Discussion: Schiff: We Will Want To Interview Trump Aide Carter Page (VIDEO)

ā€œInterviewā€ Trump? Insufficient. Now, Iā€™d love the chance to cross-examine him.

My idea is, go ahead and interview Carter Page. To sweeten the deal to move the hearings forward, ask Susan to drop in for a while and ask her some questions. Just like the HRC hearings on e-mails and Benghazi, Riceā€™ll leave the Nunes contingent in the dust and put the issue to rest once and for all.

And no getting away with murder or hiding behind soundbites - these hearings must be broadcast on more than just C-SPAN. Live.

I really respect Adam Schiff but unless and until Nunes is removed from their committee by Dim Bulb RAyn, Nunes will continue to be a pipeline directly to the White House. Unfortunately, nothing this committe does now will be trusted because theyā€™ve been compromised, intentionally so I might add, and that hasnā€™t really been resolved. Clearly, they have a rat in Nunes, who doesnā€™t even try to hide the ratfucking heā€™s done to his own committee. They need to have him expelled or their work wonā€™t be worth a tinkerā€™s damn.

I know itā€™s really just the basic set of his facial expression, but I canā€™t help but see Schiff as the exemplary cat whoā€™s eaten the canary. Heā€™s seen a lot of stuff that we havenā€™tā€¦

And any of the jokers in front of that committee who mistake him for a pussycat do so at their peril.

ETA: Unfortunately agree completely with @srfromgr above.

Ah, but thereā€™s always the Senate committee. The one not run by a rat.

There was one statement Nunes said that really bugged me, and was completely ignored by the media.

That he serves the President.

A Congressman serves the people of his district, not the President. Its one of the fundamentals that the concept of separation of powers, and therefore checks and balances, rests upon. He should have been refuted as soon as he uttered it, and then beaten over the head with it until he retracted. But of course ā€œshouldā€ is one of those unknown words to the media.

I donā€™t believe it was ignored, at least not entirely, by the media. Itā€™s gotten some play, but not nearly enough and, in that, I agree.

The more the WH tries to deflect the Russian probes, the less likely it makes them appear that they were merely unwitting beneficiaries of Russian meddling in the U.S. election.

Yeah, but for the most part it was treated like a fleeting faux pas instead of a real misconception on his part, absent real knowledge, intellectual honesty and basic facts.

In other words, Nunes is an idiot and an intellectual featherweight. Butā€¦no surprise there. Heā€™s also a fucking Republican so intellectualism, like knowing stuff and being able to demonstrate that for others, is generally frowned upon. What they do prize however is how well you can lie, and do so in a believable way. That gets you real points among the GOP.

And most likely why it didnā€™t get major play - mayā€™ve been viewed as just another day at the office with these guys.

I suspect there isnā€™t enough bandwidth or air-time to cover all these idiotsā€™ darts in the wall with truth the bullseye. Thereā€™s just too much BS to report on it all.

But this is one statement that shouldā€™ve gotten airplay. I think John Oliver covered it this past week on ā€˜Last Week Tonightā€™. Thatā€™s about the only place I remember seeing/hearing about it. But Faux Noise viewers donā€™t watch JO.

Civics and Government 101 isnā€™t Nunes forte; nor is it for most GOP politicians from my observation. How he got chosen to be on the Intelligence Committee is the real mystery. I seem to recall animal husbandry is where he really shines. Heā€™s like a one-man EHarmony for cows, sheep and goats.

I think Carter should wear a Cone of Shame, similar to what your pet or small farm animal Mr. Chairman might wear after a visit to the Vet, as he testifies before the Intelligence Committee to minimize paw chewingā€¦

Schiff is keeping the issue(s) alive and in front of the media. The Senate committee is where the real action is. Schiff will continue to show up on the various shows on MSNBC (Hayes, Rachel) to keep picking at the scab, straighten out the narrative and focus the spotlight on each of these Trumpistas. Schiff is keeping the heat on these guys - Flynn, Page, Stone and others who are under investigation.

Some of them may end up in front of the Sen. Committeeā€™s microphones, declining to comment and invoking the 5th amendment. Hopefully, Burr does the right thing. Weā€™ll see. Pass the popcorn!

the basic set of his facial expression

Heā€™s changed the set of his face in this interview. All prior times I saw him ā€“ pressers and during the hearings ā€“ he maintained a wide-eyed look of innocence. It might be that heā€™s looking into a bright light here, but that wide-eyed look is gone, replaced by a slight furrow of concentration and a tightening of the lower lids, which could be just bright light but looks more like focused intensity. Looks like heā€™s putting a lot of careful thought into what to say and what not to say here.

@srfromgr It wasnā€™t Nunes, it was Florida Rep. Ted Yoho. Same party, different idiot.

For some reasonā€¦that made me think of this song by Paul Simon.

@socalista

The look of wide-eyed innocence seems to be his ground-state expression. Below is the expression I want to see from him during hearings as the plot thickens and the lies pile up.
