Where did Schiff get his authority? Let me explain it in simple words Trump might understand. Congressional investigations go back to the founding of the Republic. Representative Schiff is the chair of a Congressional committee with authority to conduct investigations.

Schiff knows exactly what he’s doing here. Trump tries to get inside people’s heads, to rattle their confidence. Schiff just smiled that off and delivered a devastating counterblow to an adversary he’s studied and knows. You’re terrified, he says. Your fellow conspirators are going to jail, he says.
