Discussion for article #227177

We broke it, we bought it.

(When I say “we” I mean the Bush administration.)

“Carry your water again”? Joe… the first time we “carried their water”, we screwed up the entire region. Why don’t you just admit that these other countries can handle the situation in the Middle East much better than did US neocons.

“This ain’t 2003. It’s 2014”

And tell us how Iraq was our problem in 2003, Moanin’ Ho

Wrong.
We’ve owned this mess ever since the Cheney/Dubya regime bullshitted Congress and the media into it.

“I support the President trying to get Arab nations trying to fight with us side by side, trying to get European nations. I’m sick and tired of Europeans sitting back and doing nothing…”

Perhaps Moanin’ Ho should turn off the U. S. networks and start watching a real news organization like the BBC. Auntie Beeb has been reporting that the SAS will be sent in to deal with ISIS. BBC is reporting that the French President is prepared to use the French Action Services.

Beat me too it Teen. I expected Joe to be smarter than saying Iraq wasn’t our problem. It is … still. And yes there should be a coalition of countries arrayed against ISIS, esp. Muslim countries since they are the ones directly threatened.

Srsly. Talk about “This isn’t 2003, it’s 2014.”

That is a very anachronistic complaint. After Libya, after the Ivory Coast, after the NATO mission in Afghanistan, this complaint is outdated.

“… turning the other cheek as Vladimir Putin kicks them in the face time and time again…”

But didn’t Moanin’ Ho’s hero, Oedipus Tex, look into Putin’s eyes and see his soul?

Yes, but tell that to Hillary, Kerry, Reid, etc., too.

ISIS is composed primarily of Iraqi Sunnis who were armed by the CIA and trained to use American weapons against the Assad regime because both the US and Israel want Assad replaced. When Assad’s forces proved too much for ISIS, they turned eastward to retake Baghdad from the Iraqi Shiites. ISIS is an American creation and is the responsibility of America. However, to defeat them will require a joint effort by the US, the Kurds, the Iraqi Shiites and the Iranians. By the way, don’t look for the Israelis to lend a hand. They’re too busy killing unarmed Palestinians.

Media, yes. But even people like Hillary and Kerry have pretty much admitted that the only reason they voted for the war was so they would not appear anti-war. Self serving vote. Anyone with a brain in 2003 who was reading real news knew it was all propaganda in the MSM.

Isn’t Morning Joke adorable? Trying to sound all isolationist just like his hero, Senator Ayn Rand Loofahead?..

Uh, Joe. In case you haven’t heard, Conservatism has adopted an extreme macho outlook. And that pink workout shirt? It’s kinda…y’know…

So you’re pushing us to vote third party, thereby ensuring a Jeb Bush or Rand Paul administration?

Nice try.

None of them would have advocated the invasion of Iraq if the Bush Administration hadn’t been insisting on it. They did what Congress almost always does on questions of foreign policy, and that was to defer to the president. I wish they hadn’t, but the Iraq War was not their idea. It was Bush and Cheney who were insisting on it.

ZOMG, you’re not suggesting that news outlets outside the US are…actually reporting news?

(btw, I’ve been an Auntie Beebs watcher for years for this reason…)

Unfortunately, thanks to Bush and Cheney, Iraq IS our problem.
