Discussion: Scarborough Announces He's Officially Left The GOP

And now he’s an Independent asshole.

Lots of people who are too ashamed to admit they vote republican call themselves independents.

More like those claiming the GOP label left Scarborough, the modern ā€œRepublicanā€ is no longer conservative in any way, shape or form.

This is a big, big deal…in Joe’s mind.

I thought he did this a few months ago. Whatever.

He’s got a big audience—lots of them conservatives—so this is a bigger deal than most liberals can admit.

He has also been a relentless critic of Trump for about a year now.

Let’s take this as a good sign instead of raking him over the coals for his past behavior. He probably is an asshole, but at least he’s honest about Trump.

Who hasn’t? Unofficially speaking, even the TeaParty fanatics have had it with Trump and they haven’t yet seen their ACA healthcare terminated, food stamps disappear or promised tax cuts used to start another war instead of paying for that one next round of drinks.

That’s a good start.

Scarborough is the victim? Please, we’ve seen enough of that white male logic to last us a lifetime. You still think that blacks, gays, Hispanic, Muslims and women are too sensitive? Now you are one of us according to the NeoNazi GOP. You better get with the My Life Matters program before one of Donald’s SS troops rapes or kicks your brains out.

I hate to burst your balloon, but Joe is actually still one of them. He’s just taken cover with the rest of us till Fuhrer’s wrath settles down and he can be medicated for his daily nap.

I made no such claim.

Nor would I.

Scarborough is a fairly accurate barometer of where old-school Republicans are vis-a-vis Trump.

Do not make the mistake of putting words in my mouth or thoughts in my head.
You will only make yourself look foolish.

Agreed. Same with Ana Navarro
I don’t always agree with either but on the issue of trump, we need all the past, present and future Republicans on board as much as possible.
I’ll still despise what Scarborough has said and done but right now - with his audience and message regarding trump - I’ll welcome his decision to finally leave that Party and officially become an Independant.

BFD. If you didn’t leave the rep@blican party during the Clinton years it don’t mean shit.

Except unlike the rest of them he has publicly distanced himself from the rest of them.

This is in absolutely no way a worse thing than how things stood yesterday, and may be a good thing in that it may get a few people, or maybe a lot of people, who reflexively vote Republican to reconsider their position and their view points.

If you want to whine about something that is at worst neutral then I can only feel sorry for you.

I totally agree! Modern liberals and progressives seem to be increasingly ignorant of what it takes to build coalitions and assume power. Outside of his views toward gun control and Mr. Trump I disagree with about 90% of the stuff he says. He is also often conceited and arrogant, and overly confident. That being said, he is now an important anti-Trump ally at a time where we need all the help we can get. This strikes me as being similar to the ā€˜Blue Dog’ Democrat haters. Sure, there’s lot’s of problems with Blue Dogs but they are Dems. Imagine how different things would be now with another 6 or 7 Blue Dogs and Dem control of the Senate.

Yes - his and Mika’s show is quite critical of Trump and most of the panel members are too. I actually like to watch the show better when Joe isn’t on, because he makes too many jokes and asides. I don’t like all the Reagan-love Joe espouses of course. Joe has actually challenged some of the panelists like Elise Jordan - are you still a republican? The people he has on are pretty ā€œestablishmentā€ - the fact that so many are anti Trump and critical of republicans who won’t speak out against Trump is encouraging. They even made fun of Lindsey Graham claiming Trump shot a 73 when they played golf. It’s not Fox News or Limbaugh - Joe may not be my friend, but he’s not my enemy either.

If Scarborough hadn’t played such a yuge role in getting T rump elected by giving him limitless airtime during the campaign, i might think a bit more of him for leaving the Republican Party. He’s a bit late to the game in being a critic. The damage has already been done. Fuck you very much.
