I once heard a story about a dad who organized a birthday party for his son, and during the party pushed his son’s face into the birthday cake. This is the same kind of stunt.
Inviting important guests to a ceremony to honor their service should not include a careless trashing of their heritage, identity and ethnicity.
Political correctness? How about common decency and respect instead? Honored guests should not need to “brush away fake insults”.
