How is Reagan rattling a saber at an enemy the same as Trump being petty towards the US’s strongest allies?
Also, none of the countries in NATO are obliged to meet the requirement when they signed the agreement to increase their military spending. They have a window. So calling them out now is pointless, as they are not in violation.

The tell in that little conversation is the “contract” mention. Everything is a business deal to these “people,” even when it’s not, it is.
I was at local Dem Club meeting, (La Mesa Foothills Democratic Club, Club of the Year for San Diego County, btw) and a the Scripps Institute of Oceanography Scientist speaker was discussing Climate Change, and Carbon Taxes, as had the previous speaker, noted Economist Alan Gin, and when he mentioned how when a carbon tax is implemented, the Free Market takes things over and you get real cuts in CO2.
Because, I said to myself, the tax is actually incorporating more, if not all of the actual and true costs from energy production. When you do that, when you add in the costs that aren’t so easily calculated, then the economic models move closer to reality, and that’s always been the case. For way too long business contracts have not included all the costs of their activities, be it the impact of pollution in our waters because the polluters don’t have to pay the costs of cleaning their pollution up or taking care of the lead and arsenic poisonings etc if they don’t.
You want a contract, dude, well you better start putting in the costs of cleaning up after your mess. Having a class action lawsuit ala Erin Brokovich is not at all efficient or right, as the price for killing people to improve your profits has never been properly calculated, because YOU CAN’T put a PRICE on lives like that.
Ford built the exploding Pinto because they calculated the maximum cost of lawsuits and decided they were cheaper than the part fix. But their calculation didn’t include the real costs of the human carnage they created.
This is Trump and Wall Street at their truest. Calling them swamp dwellers does a real injustice to the swamps and their critters, by a lot. They’re more like denizens of the Dead Marshes with a little selfie light shining on their sick and putrid faces.
