So, I guess I’ll go out and buy a tank and a rocket propelled grenade launcher.

The 2nd Amendment is “unlimited”???

HOLY SHIT.

And I’ll commit libel, perjury, and fraud.

“Look, the Second Amendment really predates the Bill of Rights,” Scalise replied. “It is a long history in our country to make sure that you protect the right of citizens to bear arms.”

It’s like Scientology. The real meaning involves dinosaurs.

So much for “well regulated”

Let me be the first to suggest that Scalise would feel like he was putting a target on his back if he said anything against the Gun Nuts. He might be right, too.

"Well-regulated militia," anyone?

So much for the foolish idea that “suffering” glorifies the greatness of the grace of God. Always figured God was a C- student.

There are limits on the right to bear arms, as argued by none other than Antonin Scalia himself in Heller (as summarized in the Wikipedia article on Heller):

Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons. Pp. 54–56.

So he survives a shooting and his complaint is that the shooter didn’t have better weapons?

There is a sickness with these people who’ve decided that if families get shot at the mall or the movies, they don’t care. If little kids are horrifically murdered in the sanctuary of their classrooms, again they don’t care. It’s ridiculous that the majority of us who want sane laws to protect ourselves and our families can’t get any traction.

So, you plan to follow in Dear Leader’s footsteps?

How can the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution predate the f’ing Constitution? That’s some twisted pretzels for Octoberfest Scalise has got there.

We need an emergency CDC epidemiological study of the moron epidemic afflicting the GOP and almost half the voters in the USA. At least we know who “patient zero” is.

Scalise is making a strong argument for the need of a 28th amendment.

That quote struck me as well. In essence: This single amendment which is part of the Bill of Rights, predates the constitution.

That makes zero sense.

They don’t even seem to feel like they need to pretend to make even nominal superficial sense anymore. Just spout junk off the top of the head without thinking.

We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. ‘Miller’ said, as we have explained, that the sorts of weapons protected were those ‘in common use at the time.’ 307 U.S., at 179, 59 S.Ct. 816. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’

Not even Scalia believed that.

None of the rights enumerated in the Constitution are “unlimited.” They are limited every time the Supreme Court rules on a case regarding them. Scalise is just another ignorant wingnut who has managed to be voted into the Congress. Thanks, Louisiana, we need more stupid people in government.
