Discussion: Sasse: Trump Disclosing Sensitive Intel To Russia 'Is Just Weird' (VIDEO)

“It’s not helpful that this was with the Russians, right?” Sasse began, responding to Ignatius. “I mean, this is just weird. We and the Russians do not have aligned interests. They want to exacerbate our internal distrust of each other. They want to fracture NATO. Putin is an enemy of the freedom of speech, religion, press and assembly, which is the beating heart of what America means.”

Substitute “GOP” for “Russians” & “Trump” for “Putin” and Sasse is spot on 100% correct.

The Post reported Monday afternoon that Trump had given the two top Russian officials — during an Oval Office meeting closed to American press — highly classified information that he received from an American ally, and that he had not been granted permission to share. [emphasis mine]

This is the question Trump completely avoided in his admission and it’s what all GOP congressman should be needled on. Trump just fed an American ally to Russian wolves without even acknowledgment, let alone remorse.

Speaking of weird, there’s this guy named Ben Sasse who’s been standing for months on the edge of the stage, waving and gesticulating, pointing to himself, doing calisthenics and generally seeking attention without actually taking part in the play that’s being performed by the actual actors.

I guess the Senator hasn’t yet figured it out, so I’ll spell it out plainly for him:

There is no “we” in “Trump Administration.”

“Just weird”? Well, that’s one word for it. Or dangerous. Or incompetent. Or adolescent. Or idiotic. Or stupid. Or destructive. Or frightening.

McConell just now…“I don’t know what this Sasse-guy is talking about. Do you know what’s at stake here? The Supreme Court for a generation. That’s what we’re talking about. Pissant secrets about the Middle East? Shit, he can give them the fucking keys to the White House for all we care.” or words to that effect.

Staggering. Not just allies, but our own IC. Make GOP senators address this issue instead of letting them deflect to the constitutional legality.

Compromising high-value CT* intelligence = innocent people dying. That simple. Don't sugarcoat Trump's appalling arrogance and stupidity.

‘Weird’ is one word, but another word is coming to mind, and it’s not a word I use lightly.

“If it proves to be true that the American president passed on internal intelligence matters, that would be highly worrying,” Burkhard Lischka, a senior German lawmaker, said in a statement to The Associated Press.

A second European official told the AP that their country might stop sharing intelligence with the United States as a result of Trump’s disclosure to Russia.

There are spies doing life in federal prison who did no more damage to US national security than Trump has done in one conversation.
