Discussion: Sasse To Hannity: ‘Some Of Us Still Believe In The Constitution’

Fox News has been Fake News since its inception and Hannity is the king over there. Murdoch family - have you no shame? Is Trump’s real problem with NBC that they hired Megan Kelly? They’ll pay enough for that mistake without Trump’s rantings.

You should have Chuck Todd’s job - in one paragraph you’ve told more truth than Todd has in his entire career.

And some of us include ALL of the words in Constitution as well. Such as:

“a well regulated militia”.

The right and others supporter strict and common sense gun control up until Reagan’s 1st term…they were afraid of the Black Panthers at that time. Then something happened at the NRA…they metamorphosed from a focus on gun safety to pedalling guns for everyone and every neighborhood.

What do we need to do to follow the founding father’s words…and clear advice of a “well regulated militia”…in today’s terms that is the national guard and their armories. Now we have too many untrained citizens with arsenals in their house…and in some areas no background checks or periodic background checks. What we have is an untrained and totally unregulated bunch of right wing militias…not exactly what the founding fathers would support that is for sure.

Hard to dispute, but speaking up, particularly in this environment, is better than remaining silent, as the remaining Republican caucus continues to do. Flake, Corker, and Sasse are demonstrating the fractures of support for T rump, and as every one of us here at TMP frequently remind the POTUS, words do matter. Words now can generate support for action later. Not fast enough for us, but remember, we’re talking about Republicans. They are a bit slow. Let’s all just hope that Sasse’s words generate enough dissatisfaction with T rump to result in concrete actions. Those actions remain to be seen, of course, but words to that affect are a start. Dems should be encouraging more Republicans to come out of the closet, so-to-speak, and challenge T rump and his supporters on his own words. If nothing else, this turns them against themselves.

I’d feel much better knowing they’ll ultimately turn their guns against themselves.

Ben Sasse has chosen to be a Republican. This is his party by his own choice. He get’s what he deserves.

There was a thread yesterday in which a number of other posters examined Ben Sasse’s actions up to now. Their verdict, with which I agree, is that Sasse is in one poster’s words “an employee of the Koch brothers” cynically playing a role. I suppose that’s what inspired my wisecrack. I stand by it.

I don’t doubt that for a minute, but his words still widen the crack in Republican’s support for their president.

Some of us still believe in the Constitution…the Imaginary Constitution of the Modern GOP, where the Second Amendment is absolute…but where the XIIIth, XIVth and XVth Amendments are an affront to States’ Rights…and where the Voting Rights Act no longer needs to be enforced because we are in a post racial society dontcha know?..and there is nothing wrong with voting anywhere except that all those illegal Mexicans who made it into New Hampshire to vote for Hillary…and kept poor Bernhardt Langer waiting in line…

Where the 2nd Amendment is more sacred than Jesus’ teachings in the Bible…

Somebody said on cable yesterday regarding Trump and Corker “When you lose the cynical opportunists in the Republican party, you’'re in trouble.” Goes for Sasse too, When the Kochs telll Sasse to vote against Trump, he will. Not before.
I assume you will disagree, in which case you will have the last word.

Nope. Not disagreeing at all. The Koch’s are pond scum, of course, and a good number of Republicans are on their payroll. I’m simply encouraging GOPers to turn against themselves. I don’t really care who pays for those fights, just as long as they are broadcast as wide and loud as possible.

A Rep criticizes our president for attempting to censor the press.

Hannity’s response… “I’d never support censoring anybody” (where is the lightning striking him down for that egregious lie?)

And then this fool proceeds to:

  1. Completely ignore the Rep’s challenge that the president is trying to censor free speech and the process
  2. Doubles, triples, quadruples down with ad hominem attacks on the Rep trying to shut him up. Just like… WAIT FOR IT… someone trying to censor another person.

Hypocrisy and lies and fuckery. That’s is the essence of people like Hannity.

Hannity: “How about standing up to McConnell? Call me when u repeal Obamacare.”

Huh?? Did I miss the part where McConnell was supporting Ocare? Sean, you make no sense here. (Not sure why I wasted my time typing those last four letters)

.

Hey, it worked for Tinkerbell. She ended up with a nice gig at Disney’s theme parks.

Someone ought to point out to Hannity that simply calling something Fake News doesn’t make it Fake News. The truth may be hurtful, and hurtful truths can be told maliciously, but truth is an absolute defense against slander or libel claims.

I think some GOP are panicking. A former member of the Bush White House gave a speech and said Now is the time to panic over this president.

A few of the old Bushies have said it. One wrote about it BEFORE last night’s Massacree.
ETA the raw story article is about Gerson’s wapo column.

What’s this freedom of the press sh**? No such thing in Hannity’s Constitution. Everyone knows “Constitution” means “Guns.”

They’ve said quite a bit all along but this is first time I’ve seen panic Now!
