Discussion: Sanford: 'The Tragedy Of The Trump Presidency' Is His Selfishness

The apparent decency will last for the duration of the Trump presidency and for so long as Sanford has access to a media outlet. What will not happen is any action to oppose, much less reverse, the acts of this administration. See: Collins; Corker; Murkowski; Flake, 47 other GOP senators and 240 representatives.

Sorry. No. The tragedy is what the Trump presidency has revealed about the rot at the core of the Republican base.

It was also Romney 2012, for that matter.

Tragedy implies the downfall of the main character. We aren’t even close to that, yet.

At which point I am undecided whether I prefer Sophocles or Shakespeare.

Or at least long prison terms for the guilty.

Yet they march in lock-step. Hypocrites. He said nothing this week that he hasn’t said a thousand times before, yet nobody speaks up until they’re on their way out the door. The whole lot of them own this disaster.

"It is symptomatic [of] how far this administration has drifted from important ideas and policy that really impact people’s lives.ā€

Oh yeah, Sanford, you think there was a drift away from the good stuff? Harking back to some sort of golden era when trump was actually strategizing and working to benefit the country?

Sanford said, ā€œā€¦how far this administration has drifted from important ideas and policyā€ but I don’t believe for one minute that rump has drifted from anything. He has always been unfocused and selfish. His ideas were never ā€œimportantā€, but always rather draconian.

Who would have expected Sanford to be a voice of reason…who knew?

At least Sanford is an expert on selfishness.

The tragedy is ours, as US citizens.

Sanford took some time off from hiking the Appalachian Trail to claim someone else is selfish? Why is it none of these guys have any mirrors in their homes?

ā€œā€¦ he thinks it’s about him. The President…has unfortunately fallen prey to thinking it’s about him.ā€

I guess at this juncture of history what separates 100% pure morons and those with minimally functioning brain is whether they get it that for Orange Fuckface everything is about him. At the very least, Sanford passes this test.

ETA: And I would like to link a post by @valgalky23 below on the primary election night he lost. So this man did lots of stupid things and after all he is a GOP we disagree with 99% of the time. But I figure this man is still a human.

oh yeah, I know. I won’t forget that little secret speech he made that one of the waiters filmed. I’m just tired of his free pass at destroying the social safety net and ceding public land to big business while getting to play the decent mormon man in front of the crowds.

I’m still pondering the meaning of this. At a recent press briefing HHS clueless Secretary Nielsen was asked ā€œhow is this not child abuseā€ and responded ā€œBe more specific, please.ā€

Clearly she doesn’t want to be treated by PP again.

And you would know, wouldn’t you Mark? Let’s see, dereliction of duty and divorce while singing Maria on the Appalachian Trail seems to qualify as selfish.

That’s only part of it Sanford. The real tragedy is that he isn’t really an American at all. He’s a taller dumber version of Kim Jung Un.

She knows it is. I do not care that she is afraid of Trump, she should have left the Admin long ago. None of these people deserve a pass.
It amazes me what people will do to for what they precieve as saving their own skin. She embarreses herself for that lousy job, working for that pig.
