My thoughts lately have been, âWhat makes a âmovementâ? And how is it that Sanders was supposedly leading one while everyone else was âjust securing votesâ? And if what Sanders had IS a âmovementâ, then what does it mean that his opponent got 4 million more votes while not leading a âmovementâ?â

Narcissistic little navel-gazers who demand the publicâs attention decide to disrupt the only place that anyone is actually in SUPPORT of their ideas.
They wonât lift a finger to stop a dangerous demagogue from openly espousing Fascist Ideas and making racist, misogynistic concepts the PLATFORM of HIS party, but they are perfectly willing to destroy the convention of the only people actively trying to save Democracy from him, and defend their right to protest, to vote, and to live their lives as they see fit.

Direct action is an effective means of getting publicity for a cause when youâre completely shut out of the process. Itâs utterly ineffective at party conventions because by definition, there is a process, and if youâre outside protesting, youâre either rooting for the other team or you got out-organized.

We just completed 8 months of Primaries and had nearly 40 million people vote in them.
Their candidate now has been given seats on the platform committee, has input into the campaign message, and has been handled with âkid glovesâ from the get-go.
What the hell is WRONG with these idiots? They had their chance, THEY LOST.

I have more faith in this next generationâŚor at least, I have more faith in my 23 year old daughter, who voted for HRC. Actually I think a lot of young people voted for HRC, but I also think that they are just quiet about it so as not to arouse or be called shills by their Bernie acquaintances.

Boy are some Bernie folks politically naĂŻve and clueless. 1) Join the Dem Party and become active members 2) Realize that this movement is bigger than Bernie or Hillary 3) Your numbers if you become active Dem Party members will allow you to take over the Dem Party and make it more progressive with the changes you would like to make
Protesting and getting arrested at the Dem Convention just shows how you donât get how it all works. We want to you be active, but protesting and getting arrested plays into the repubs hands. Sad. Go and protest at the repub convention.

Agreed. Members of my family were THERE in 1968. This is NOTHING LIKE THAT. Not even close!
1968 was a disaster for America and lead directly to the election of Richard M. Nixon and the deaths of over 40,000 more Americans in Vietnam/Cambodia and 5 more years of a bloody, Sisyphean conflict.
The country was in cultural turmoil in a way that has not been repeated since. MLK and Bobby Kennedy had both been assassinated, Race Riots were burning major cities and anti-war riots were occurring daily. Large Majorities saw Chicago as confirmation of the âcommunist hippiesâ trying to âdestroy Americaâ. It was not until years later that the truth came out that it was an organized Police Riot, planned and directed by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley to further his own political career and to discredit the âPeace Movementâ.
It worked. Many parts of America STILL engage in the âPunch the Hippieâ mentality.
