I think this is wrong – like the dog who caught the car, Sanders would have no idea what to do if he actually won the thing. In common with Donald Trump, he and many of his supporters are professional victims. The aggrievement is an inseparable part of the brand.

I think he would have won the General Election if he had won the Primary, but he didn’t win the Primary because more voters voted for Hillary.

What in the fuck is wrong with this man?
I mean, let’s assume he’s actually running for president to win and let’s assume he really, really believes this is true. In what fucking universe where you’re legit running does it make sense to say this knowing that it will absolutely enrage 85% of Democratic primary voters?
And it’s not just this. He literally cannot stop himself from doing this over and over. Time and again he blurts out pieces of the Berniebot grievance mythology that will make his stans high five and tweet triumphantly even while it pisses the immortal shit out of the rest of the Democratic base. Indeed, he has structured his whole campaign, and hired people specifically, to nurture and inflame the mythology of grievance his followers have cocooned themselves in.
And that can lead me only one of three possible explanations: a) he’s as hugely math-illiterate as the followers who think the intensity of their feels can overturn the sovereignty of math in democracy; b) he has severe personality disorder that renders him incapable of letting go of his own sense of grievance even when it is hugely self-destructive; c) he’s not a legit candidate but, instead, is an intentional and purposeful saboteur under the control of someone other than himself.
And at that I reach my epistemological limit. I don’t see any other explanation and each of these explains all observed facts and makes the same predictions.

I don’t know what to say to these people. Either: “no, stupid, it’s not rigged, it’s literally operating exactly by the rules which were written on the signup sheet”, or, “yes, stupid, of course it’s fucking rigged, that’s the whole point of a political party, did nobody tell you?”

I’m not sure I follow. You disagreed with me then said something that seems to support what I said. Bernie would literally like to see Trump win if he’s not the nominee. He’s Susan Sarandon with a dick. He thinks it helps the country “learn its lesson” and creates the necessary environment for the imaginary revolution.
I agree completely that the aggrievement is an indelible part of his shtick and core to the psychology he looks for and tries to exploit to gain supporters, but it’s important to note that the aggrievement he’s looking for and trying to tap into is primarily aggrievement against the Democrats, and so he will do anything and everything he can to try to create as much of that aggrievement as possible, cost us votes in the general and creating a small minority of Bernie-addled Unicorn Warriors who don’t actually understand jack shit, particularly procedure and the mechanics of policy, but who think they do because they heard Bernie, who also doesn’t understand those things, yell and scream about laudable goals we’d all like to achieve…just mostly without any supporting mechanics and actual policy to back it up.
