Discussion: Sanders On Long Campaign: 'Not Quite Sure This Is Best Way To Elect A President' (VIDEO)

And you probably sneered at them as well, you just didn’t have a cute term for them like “berniacs”. Keep playing the same tired old song about how we deserve mediocrity and nothing is ever going to change. It’s really inspiring I have to tell you.

We already GOT quite a bit of change these past 8 years (some good, some bad) but since it hasn’t been the kind of change you or Sanders wants it’s just discounted. Apparently Berniacs are the ones who get to decide what change is necessary and beneficial.

My question of what happens regarding Sanders and his followers after 1/2017 still hasn’t been answered.

The SuperPAC has announced a 70 million dollar ad buy AFTER the convention. It’s intended for the general, not aimed at Bernie.

And besides the fact that Ms. Clinton heartily endorsed Barack Obama, nominated him at the convention, campaigned vigorously for him and turned over her mailing lists to his campaign.

We can only hope that sanders shows a fraction of the grace Ms. Clinton showed after ending her campaign in 2008.

Yep, a noun and a verb and “Wall Street” …

Bernie ought to consider dropping out. He could still hold rallies in the western states that have primaries left to rally democrats and to talk about income inequality and other issues, but at this point he’s not going to get nominated. His most rabid supporters are now reposting discredited RWNJ Clinton scandal porn like its fact, and Clinton’s are similarly denigrating him. It’s not good for the party. It doesn’t matter how long Hillary stayed in in 2008, that race was closer than this one. Sanders, himself, is not necessarily hurting the party, but the bickering that is going on between the two camps is. We need to start focusing on how we are going to take down the GOP.

This is why some Hillary supporters are so myopic. This is true if you approach politics as some sort of checklist. Got this, didn’t get this, got this, didn’t get that… Sanders’ message is much bigger than that. It’s about the fact that the problems we face are systemic. It’s about the entire political establishment not representing us as long as lobbying is such a big force. It’s about wanting politicians that are principled. It’s about lending a voice to people who are typically underrepresented (independent voters for instance, Sanders has picked up lots of them). It’s about killing neoconservatism as an ideology (not going to happen with Hillary). Gaining the respect of the rest of the world again. It’s bigger than the platform itself.

We should just decide the nomination by an online poll, Facebook likes, and reddit posts. Amiright, bernie?

Sanders has brought that issue into the discussion. It’s a process, not something that’s going to be done in one election cycle. Sanders had a good run, and if he pivots wisely he can continue leading that discussion. But it won’t happen with him as the nominee, because that ship has sailed. And it won’t go at all if the party is fractured and either the theocrat or the fascist wins in November as a result. 2001-2008 cemented in my mind that the two parties are significantly different, and even a pragmatic Democrat like Clinton is preferable by far to the nihilist Republicans.

How is that called for?

But, from what I’ve heard from Sanders taking down the GOP isn’t quite as important as taking down Clinton and the supposed Dem establishment. That is hurting the party.

Please, guys… the article is just about Bernie’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. The thread doesn’t have to be this hostile.

Actually, it’s not called for. But these are the sorts that are being brought into the Dem election by Sanders and, yeah, I’m calling him out for this personally.

I don’t get that from Bernie himself, but some of his followers do see it that way. It’s a very Nader 2000 outlook.

It’s your money, and your vote to do with as you please. But I would say that your money could be better spent on a downticket Dem who has a much better chance of getting elected at this point, and that would important to any Dem President. Because despite all of Bernie’s Revolution! talk of getting stuff done, actually electing Dems in the Senate/House and locally, is money much better spent in achieving that.

I I ca

Nice attitude. This election is a whole lot more than being about Bernie. This is about defeating the Repubs in November.
Don’t lose sight of that

Thing is, there isn’t a good case for Hillary there. Trump is winning because he’s not an establishment candidate. Putting up Hillary against a buffoon like that is not a sure thing. It didn’t work with Gore (that election was essentially stolen, but it never should have been so close, with or without Nader). And it didn’t work with Kerry (I heard the bush was a wartime president excuse, but the terror freakout would likely help trump more than Hillary).

condew: how about you just write in a vote for Nader while you’re at it? You won’t support Clinton because of 3 supporters on this site, and yet despite Trump’s millions of know-nothing supporters, you are resigned to a Trump presidency? If Sanders endorses Clinton at some point, you’re just going to sit on your hands?

It’s very simple. either you have the votes or you don’t. You can not rely on just the young vote just like you cannot rely on just the white vote to win an election. Doesn’t work that way Bernie superdelegate sanders.
