The entire medical system in this country is as you describe. We train about 50 % of the physicians we need. We get many from India. I do not want Indian physicians here. I want American kids to have the opportunity to become physicians. In addition to lower opportunities for talented Americans, we also have issues like Ebola in Sierra Leone. According to many physicians, the epidemic was exacerbated by the fact that 2/3 of physicians trained at gov expense were in the US.
This also allows U.S. companies to take advantage of high-skilled workers who are products of the educational systems of other countries (usually strongly government-supported) rather than have to pay a bit more for world-class primary, secondary and higher education here in the U.S. to produce the high-skilled workforce they need.
Donât know about recent hiring as I retired in 2010, however having hired 100s over the course of my 45+ years as an Exec you made me laugh with the above statement.
Example: I needed some very specific Oracle skilled staff, I specifically requested HR not to include the word Oracle in the position requirement but to use just the specific talent needed. Of course HR included Oracle and I was subsequently inundated with 1000s of resumes. Not all that much trouble, even during the paper resume days, as it is very easy to skim the first page looking for keywords, etc. Piled into âfile 13â, maybe, read closer. Soon it became apparent that many many of the resumes coming from headhunters trying to place folks from India all had the same theme. The details would be identical, same education levels, same educational institutions, same employers, same length of employment, etc the only difference was the name and maybe the address. Needless to say those resumes went into âfile 13â immediately.
And they all fake resumes. Itâs clear and well-known that the H-1B scum scabs lie on resumes, fake credentials, and are incompetent also. I have had to work with many. I never hired them. The Chinese are here to have 2+ children. The Indians are here to use indoor toilets. The technical competence was often present, but never any innovation or leadership ability.
Yea, fake is correct⌠you respond to an ad and first thing they ask for is rate. You can bet the sales force is then out pitching they canât find US Citizens and if you only hired us to support your needs weâll bring the project(s) in cheaper⌠It is all BS, I would try to explain to my CEO just why, as the COO, I refused to outsource or use H1Bs. They never could, or more likely did not care, that I would actually be spending more because of the need for more oversight and more project management. CEO could also never understand that once the corporate knowledge was gone there was no longer the unique qualities that made our company.
Story: CEO bought into Y2K hype and without consultation brought in an outsource company. They wanted my developers to package all their work up every night, send it off to India where it would be worked on overnight, next morning we would unpack and supposedly be able to continue without any interruptions or need to compile, etc, etc⌠I was asked to sit in on meetings where developers would give an overview of projects for the India team. After the first five minutes of the first meeting it was very obvious the India folks did not have a clue what the developers were describing. I interrupted and provided a 10 minute tutorial on what they needed to do. Which was to do a search for a single string, I wrote it on the board, and if found replace with another single string, I wrote it on the board. Net result was, even the CEO realized he was wasting $$$, we proceeded in our spare time to evaluate and correct every application within the Corporation. I actually got pizzed at the certification bodies as they kept changing the rules. Otherwise we would have been certified in 1998. Ended up being certified 3 times as a result of certification bodies changing rules⌠Yea, Y2K was a sales mans âwet dreamâ hypeâŚ
What you are leaving out is the industrial espionage. They steal company intellectual property. Some of them may be working for Indian or Chinese military. They catch chinese at the airports with copied documents, etc. They catch them with seeds from seed companies (special hybrids - billions of dollars of intellectual property).
And of course, in todayâs world where you can get a flash drive of 2-3T in a little box the size of a deck of cards, the notion of copying physical pages is SOOOOO 1996. You just download the entire company database of whatever, stick it in your pocket and head for the airport.
The US is selling our birthright of knowledge to these enemies for the ability to save 30K on IT staff. Itâs beyond stupid.
And out at SC Edison, they have a bunch of curry chuggers in charge of the nuclear power station. We have enemy nationals in charge of a power plant within 100 miles of 20,000,000 CA citizens. When will the Indian military tell them to create an incident?
