Discussion: Sanders Disavows Surrogate's 'Corporate Democratic Whores' Remark (VIDEO)

Basundhara Mukherje was a summer intern and student at Brown. Actually, her showing up here as paid ($4,100 for a summer…I think that works out to little less than $6/hour…or well below his $15/hour living wage) GOVERNMENT staff raises a few questions…since she was also actively working for the Bernie campaign as a founding member of Brown students for Bernie Sanders.

Hector Gabriel Sigala also now works for the Bernie campaign. And while the name is definitely Hispanic, I am pretty sure he would qualify as a “white Hispanic” Here is his photo from LinkedIn:

I can’t find a photo or bio on Chantel Carter…or at least a verifable one that worked for Bernie…but the name isn’t necessarily a minority name. Quite a few very white (including platinum blonde) people are popping up when I google it. Anyway, she also is working for Bernie’s campaign.

So what you have listed is a bunch of young people, who have mostly been hired since Bernie started his planning to run, or actually running for President, who all work for the Bernie CAMPAIGN…and not his staff. Nor over the past 35 years he has been in government office.

You may be right though…perhaps he has hired an number of minorities over the years and they just all refused to come forward and set the record straight. I can see loyal Bernie people refusing to do an interview with a group that perceive as being anti-Bernie.

Bernie is that way…after all, he wouldn’t agree to do a debate with Donald Trump on Fox with Fox moderators or anything. Oh wait…

I was replying to Ronbyers up-thread.

I have known and supported Claire for 30 years. Claire is gone the next election. She won’t get lucky with another stupid opponent. The Democratic party in Missouri is on life support. It has been since the national party abandoned it.

Honestly, I think you illustrate part of why it exists quite well with your post referring to Bernie as another old white guy in a derisive manner as if that’s an ok thing to put in the “cons” column while simultaneously complaining about people putting “woman” in their “cons” column. If you can’t see the hypocrisy there, then I can’t help you. We’re not dealing with generalities or cardboard cutouts. Bernie and Hillary are individuals. BUT, the fact is that people operate on such generalities. Also, I think Clinton came out of the box with a huge head start with the black and Hispanic communities, not just for name recognition and her history and accomplishments being known and admired, but because of the long-standing history there, especially Bubba’s presidency. The minority community is intensely loyal as voters. At the same time, there are cracks in that, which Bernie failed to really exploit or do a good job on…such as the crime legislation Bubba signed and which Hillary stumped for…there’s resentment there and Bernie’s so Wall-Street-minded he failed to recognize the opportunity and exploit it.

And I have to take umbrage with “mansplaining” bullshit. You’re only getting away with that word because the candidate is female. The behavior hasn’t changed, isn’t palpably different, than when it’s a male v. male candidate battle. And yes, you need to set the “Bernie Bros” aside for a second because that’s a small but vocal minority unrepresentative of the whole. People debating and arguing and ‘splainin’ at each other is politics. Moreover, it’s how comment boards always work, particularly political ones…ALWAYS. It’s a fundamental fact of the intertubes, just like everything you read on them being true. We do it regardless of the candidates’ genders. It doesn’t suddenly become “mansplaining” just because it’s people supporting a male candidate doing it to people who support a female candidate…just like criticism and insults aren’t automatically sexism just because they’re levied at a woman. Oh, and Bernie wags his finger at everybody. EVERYBODY. He probably wags it at the fucking drive thru at McDonald’s if they forgot cheese on his Big Mac or at the neighbors when he’s saying hi while doing yardwork. It’s a bad habit, not sexism.

When do the establishment Democrats start working on that edhedh? Ever?

Yeah, it’s more art than science in putting out that artful smear. You can’t just use blunt language to slime your opponent by using they same “anyone not voting for me is corrupt”. You have to use hypocritical guilt by association and safe bumper-sticker buzzwords.

So, I assume you also have not forgiven Albright and Steinem for the utterly inappropriate and downright nasty comments they made about Sanders supporters, correct? And hold Clinton responsible for them?

Or are you doing that whole “double-standard” thing?

and where was the surrogate wrong??? really how was he wrong in what he said…it’s true isn’t it along with republicons who would screw over their own grandmother to remain in power

Oh, and let’s not forget all the Clinton supporters who made extremely nasty comments about Jane Sanders’ appearance!

'Cause Clinton’s campaign is all feminist and stuff, right?

I rather think the unfortunate fact is that you have it backwards. As I mentioned above, I think part of this whole mess between supporters is a result of Team Unicorn starting from a place of being overly emotionally involved in their ideological dreams and purity, making them self-righteous, thereby justifying hyperbole and vitriol. They were ripe and easy pickins for the type of right-attacks-from-the-left crap Rove has demonstrably engaged in and tried to feed. They couldn’t help themselves. And think about: you and I both know the GOP/Teatrolls don’t need Bernie’s help coming up with attacks on Clinton. Bernie hasn’t done or said anything they didn’t already know or haven’t already planned on doing during the general.

There is a lot of truth to that. With one exception

They can’t attack her from the left like Bernie can. That’s why they are not only easy pickings, but highly valuable foils.

I kinda agree with you, but the challenge from the left has been so hollow and short of plausible solutions that I wonder if it hasn’t weakened the argument that Democrats have a full grasp of reality–compared to the complete delusion of the Republicans. I suppose we won’t really know until later in the summer.

Either provide a link to Hillary making that remark, or admit that you made it up to fit your preconceived notions about her.

All I can say to you is this:

Bless your little bitty heart.

See, there fella, you are now even using the language of the unhinged conspiracy theorist. “…somebody has to wake you up…” “…you need to open your eyes…”

“Wake up, sheeple! The government is POISONING YOU with CONTRAILS from commercial AIRLINERS!” “9/11 was an INSIDE JOB!!!” “The fuckin JEWS and the fuckin ROCKEFELLERS and the illumi-fuckin-NATI! are trying to tear your country APART! Wake up! Wake UP! WAKE UP!!!”

Jesus.

But seriously, I do know how brutally condescending I’ve been about your age, education, and reading habits, but it was all just in good fun. Don’t take it personally or anything. (And I’m not just saying that because I believe you are unhinged and possibly homicidal and might want revenge, end up killing my family. I do mean it.)

There’s a writer at salon.com named H.A. Goodman whose credentials include having worked on B Clinton campaigns and is now on board for Bernie, which must explain why every single story he writes is a blast at Hillary and how the election is going to be lost because of her, and other condemnations. When Joan Walsh wrote for them I paid attention, and I still pay attention to the founder of salon.com, a man named David Talbot who has several great books out including one currently about Allen Dulles. I’ve been going to slate.com lately because their writers seem less hysterical.

Perhaps because he himself voted for that legislation. If he led the attack on that, that fact would have become immediately exposed and undercut his efforts. Tactically, its better to let someone else bring it up, which is what is happening now…though probably not to much effect.

No such comments were made, Cupcake.

Goodman also sullies HuffPo with his bullshit diatribes.

He’s a Ron Paul/Rand Paul supporter who has decided that Bernie is the Second Coming.

Everything he writes is so divorced from reality that it sounds like it came direct from Baghdad Bob.

Has Bernie or anyone ever said what this Revolution is about? Cause I have no idea. I have no idea how they think they will purge the Corporate Whores from America. Re-education camps? Tear the economy down and then try to put it back together differently? Make the GOP and the rest of the country sit down and shut up? How???

There is no single payer health care in this country anywhere including Vermont, where they tried and gave up. Americans are not all going to wake up one morning and say: I want to be a Dane, so let’s remake the country utterly.

This is as silly as it was when I was jumping up and down yelling Revolution in 1968.
