Discussion: Sanders: Democratic Convention Could Get 'Messy'

I think Al is staying out of it as he can be a lightening rod for the anti-climate change crowd and maybe a few other reasons. His endorsement, especially after laying low for the past several years, may not be seen as a good thing.

Al’s a good man, after that debacle in 2000, which was devastating for him, I don’t blame him for staying out of it. I don’t think his endorsement would make or break but could be a distraction that is not needed.

Send link to article in order to address Trump business as I doubt seriously a man as intelligent as Al Gore would ever consider such a thing.

Wonder what Howard Dean is thinking about all that.

           Democratic Convention Could Get ‘Messy’

Of course it could … Ask any “high-jacker” —

I take a fair amount of comfort in seeing how many people who once thought this guy was fabulous who are now just seeing him for the egomaniacal old kvetch he is. That said, the prospect of Chicago 1968 Redux is not pleasant. To say nothing of 1972 and 2000. It may be that come January, I’ll have to comfort myself in the knowledge that he will be anathema to a huge segment of this country and the Senate…not to mention all the people and groups who Trump’s court appointees will destroy.

When I see people wetting themselves over what they SO want to believe are hints that he’ll play nice, I just squint, and think, “Are you effin’ serious?”

“We believe that we will have the representation on the platform
drafting committee to create a Democratic platform that reflects the
views of millions of our supporters who want the party to address the
needs of working families in this country…”

Which is eactly why Sanders selected the noted economists, labor union organizers,
Wall Street analysts, and trade experts James Zogby, Keith Ellison, Cornel West,
Bill McKibben and Deborah Parker were selected. Just say the phrase “income inequality”
and all these people come immediately to mind, amirite? Who needs Robert
Reich to talk about this stuff?

HRC and Sanders wants are very similar the difference for the most part is only a matter of semantics. Because of this, I believe, Sanders may come out of committee discussions saying, “I got my way”. Of course BS but hopefully it will appease most of his supporters. True believers, as Sarandon, can always leave the country not to return until The Dumpster is gone.

Hope I’m not whistling in the dark.

That ship sailed several months ago.

Of course you advocate for Bernie to destroy the Democratic party so that Trump could win.

You’ve proved that you’re monumentally stupid and that you don’t give a shit about America.

Wish I could rec this 100x. This is exactly the truth. Sanders is racist but not as racist as Rump. It just comes from a different place than Rump.

Bernie can’t win. All That he can do is keep up the very same shit that has made him lose.
Is their glory in being the sole reason that our nation may miss a once in a hundred year opportunity? Not really.
Sanders is so wound up in his retreaded hippie movement that he’s not seeing the bigger picture. By causing havoc and sowing the seeds of discontent he’s spoiling an otherwise perfect storm.
The Sanders crowd could’ve melded in with the Democrats and all of our goals easily could’ve been addressed and then worked on with much success, instead, Bernie is guiding them into a flaming corner with nothing but a bad Bern as the result.

They lose the battle, they cede ground and they foolishly aid the opposition which is like kicking each other in the crotch for funsies. The short term rage will be a self inflicted wound for the rest of their lives, it will hurt everyone and the nation as a whole and that is a complete loss.

This isn’t pushing the left, it’s undermining the left.
If there is an upside to this beyond gloating and self promotion, I can’t see it.

First, I think they still have their gloves on. But, I think you are starting to see people take their gloves off. Right now, it’s happening quietly behind the scenes. If he continues down this path after June 7th, when I’m pretty sure he’s going to lose both California and New Jersey, then I think there are a few who will take the gloves and slap him in the face with them (metaphorically speaking). It will start with prominent people congratulating Hillary on being the party’s nominee and get louder until Sanders is shamed into finally admitting he’s lost. Right now, Hillary is setting the tone. She did so in her interview on CNN when she said that Sanders has a right to play this out until the end of the primaries but confidently asserted she would be the nominee.

Sanders is like that boy in the kindergarten class who can’t stand it if you’re not paying attention to him and will disrupt the class until all the focus is on him. Clinton has to be like the kindergarten teacher who models the right way to behave. It’s frustrating to watch because there is a part of you that would like for her to shake the little shit until his head pops off, but we all know that’s not the right way to deal with unruly children.

Sanders is hurting himself with this petulance. The more he reveals his true nature (the Senate already knows what he’s like) the more people tire of his puerile elitism.

No offense, but black people are WAY over-represented in that cartoon. Kinda like in prison. The only person doing worse with blacks than Sen. Sanders is Trump.

Fuck Kos, and fuck the shit-show of an anti-Obama, anti-Hillary hell-hole he allowed to fester at his site for going on 8 years. He’s enabled this very conduct since Obama took office, yet now he whines and cries and acts shocked - shocked, he tells ya’ – that the Sanders camp is acting like this? Good grief – whom does he think he’s kidding? For years, he has allowed his site to be dominated by the very same people – the Nader/Snowden/Sanders dude-bros – about whom he now complains. He’s suddenly concerned about destructive elements on the Dem side? Where’s he been for the last 7 and a half years?

It changes from week to week. ‘bored slacker’ today. Actually just having some fun this morning, you know, Bernie as Bully, crashing the Party of Corporate America. Playing the gadfly on this site yields very little as the standard response to any factual well-presented criticism of Obama is 'Better than Bush!"

Will say though I consider this presidential election the most important in my 72 years. The Neoliberalism views of today’s Democratic Party will ruin this country if people like Bill & Hillary are able to successfully solidify their policies over the next eight years.

Today’s Democratic party is not neoliberal, and neither are the Clintons.

You remain a remarkably limited thinker.
