Discussion: Sanders: Democratic Convention Could Get 'Messy'

If you’re Bernie, then it’s the NRA and General Dynamics. Oh, and the dumping of white people’s toxic waste on impoverished communities of color.

Realize Weaver’s prior job was running a Comic Book store. That’s his background.

Based on my many years going to comic book stores, my guess is that conspiracy theories and undying devotion to quixotic goals are the primary drivers for him, not factual reality. Compromise is probably an alien concept for him.

Bernie’s cranky-old-man routine has gotten older than he is.

You made a very good run, Bernie. You brought up many subjects that were not part of the debate, and should be. But you lost. Deal with it.

Bernie: “My, how beautiful and vital your Democratic Party appears to be …It’d be a shame if something really bad and messy were to happen to it … maybe we should discuss how you are going to see things my way .”

Disagree. He is already tipping his hand by saying that there is hope for Trump (on climate change).

Bernie Sanders seems to have about as much regard for the Democratic Party as do Republicans.

I voted for him–but I regret it. He’s a real, what we call in Boston, asshole.

Weaver is a hack. Yes - please continue to have your candidate tell everyone how messy the convention will be while simultaneously parroting that you’re going to turn super delegates.

The debate is messy sure, but once the debates are done, people have voted, and you lose, it’s fucking over. The people have decided and the winner gets to move forward and try and get the things done they talked about doing, but that will also have to get past a congress that’s further to the right. So when you have lost, sure you can go to the convention and say what you think, but then sit down and let the person the majority of the people have chosen do her thing. God damn I’ve really lost a lot of respect for him, he’s acting like a spoiled child.

I wish your comment was a book.

That’s it. Trump has been given odds of between 33% and 43% of winning the Presidency. That figure should shut up anyone with a notion of averting this…but we have opened up the gates of electoral politics to people who vote on emotion. We know that Trump voters, GOP voters do.

We know that the Democratic side has raw emotion as well…and we NOW know that this emotion can be malignantly exploited by an ideologue. There is an excellent section of to-day’s Electoral Vote website with a few paragraphs describing how it is emotion, rather than policy which separates Sanders from Clinton.

Because PBS gets much higher viewership than The Apprentice.

Bernie Sanders has squandered a golden opportunity to become the progress leader responsible for the transformation of the Democratic Party. Instead, he may become the left wing ideologue responsible for wrecking the progressive movement by helping to put Trump in a position to fill 2 or even 3 seats on SCOTUS with right wing idealogues.

Yeah Bernie, especially if you don’t stand down and get out because you mathematically can’t win.

Absolutely. ‘Working-class’ means white people because whites ‘work’ or aspire to ‘work,’ whereas non-whites aspire to stay in bed. It makes me sick.

The last time a losing candidate managed to get the platform committee to structure the convention to a large extent according to his wishes was Pat Buchanan in 1992. Boy, THAT turned out great for the Republicans. I can still remember his Kulturkampf-speech in 1992, which played right into Bill Clinton’s campaign hands.

BTW; why not open the floor of the Senate for the poor and the young? That would make proceedings wonderfully messy as well. I’m sure Senator Sanders and his colleagues would just love it.

For Bernie? You’re right. This extended hissy fit of his must be tiring him out.
