Discussion: Ryan: We Must Pass Major Legislation Or GOP Will 'Depress Turnout' In 2018

That is great!

Bryce really is like one of the Founding Fathers–he’s the antithesis of the hated professional pol like Ryan.

“If we don’t do our job we will depress turnout,” Ryan told the Wisconsin State Journal.

I know some depressed voters…
This guy in my home town is a right winger and hated Obama. But he told me straight up that this “new crowd” hasn’t turned out the wsy he wanted.

Best comment of the morning so far!:joy:

He says on recess after failing to pass a basic budget or put together a plan to lift the debt ceiling…both very normal, low hanging fruits.

But, he isn’t wrong. The GOP base is getting very depressed and it will be noticeable in the midterms.

And once again, I have to say I am totally digging on Randy Bryce’s campaign against Ryan. I don’t think Ryan even realizes how much trouble he himself is going to be in, in 2018.

STFU!!! He is what he eats, and that is a steaming pile of shit, stuffed inside a flaming paper bag, left on the front steps of the RNC! There is not a single redeeming chromosome in his entire body. Or soul! His soul is destined for Hell! In a hand basket!!! He is emotionally unstable around women, and would prefer they all wear burkas in his office. Paul Ryan was born in the casket of Ayn Rand, and he has a secret temple in his closet where he worships the feces of Donald T rump!

And you think he’s a nice boy???

I seriously beg to differ. Dammit!

At least he’s staying true to form - it’s not his fault that legislation isn’t getting passed, it’s McConnell’s.

You have the kool-aid set up Paul …

Now…put the hot-dogs in tin-foil wrappers ----

I think Ryan has more to be worried about and that is a motivated democratic base emboldened to take away his majority to check the orange Cheeto in the white house.

“The problem isn’t having President Trump sign bills into law and it isn’t getting bills out of the House — the problem is getting these bills through the Senate,” he said.

No dumbass, the problem is the bills themselves. The bills suck. You’ve made it way too obvious that your goal is starving grannies so you can continue sucking down $300 bottles of wine with the swells. Everybody’s on to you now. That’s why you’re in trouble.

I think the AAA batteries in your snark meter have leaked and ruined it. Either that, or mine is ruined. But somebody’s is on the fritz.

I’m really hoping Amy McGrath does well in Kentucky also.

I am encouraged by candidates like Bryce and McGrath.

Well, when your legislative philosophy is “Let’s pass this piece of shit and let the Senate deal with it”, that’s sort of what you might expect. Leaving a bag of dog poop on the Senate’s front porch and running away isn’t what I’d describe as “getting bills out of the House”.

Fair enough. Good thing it’s Friday.

BTW, FWIW, i did recognize your snark. You just presented me with the opportunity to say what’s truly on my mind. I’ve been suffering all full week from Republicus Observationitis. It can be quite debilitating.

Welfare reform, tax reform. Lyin’ Ryan knows all the nice sounding words to cover his treachery against his constituents.
I think his opponent needs a donation. Really people. We have a decent chance of tossing this wretched Speaker out on his ear.

@mattinpa

Don’t you just love literal-minded people?

The tax cut bill is going to be interesting. The failure to gut the ACA and Medicare deprives them of the ability to do anything even remotely resembling revenue neutral. They can fabricate wild growth numbers (as they always do) but any major bill will blow up the deficit.

The Freedom Caucus was founded on fiscal austerity and was in large part a response to the fiscal negligence of the GOP during the Bush years.

This is going to be fascinating to watch play out.
