Discussion: Russian Prime Minister Warns US Against Ramping Up Sanctions

Moscow will retaliate with economic, political and unspecified “other” means

Economic? That’s funny and sad.

Political? They’re already balls deep there.

Unspecified “other”? Come back when you’ve hammered out what exactly.

Once we’re done dealing with your puppet and his party we’re going to have a long talk about grabbing hunks of other people’s countries, whacking people when you feel like it, shooting down airliners, interfering with elections, screwing around with vital infrastructure, and other annoyances you won’t get away with forever with an economy the size of Italy’s. We’ll come back to stand with Europe and you’ll find you don’t really have a lot of friends in the world. Just sit and wait, we’ll be along shortly.

Kabuki. If they were really concerned about it, Putin would just make a call to his boy in DC.

Dmitry doesn’t scare me. The USA is the land of thoughts and prayers - just wait until we start thinking and praying.

I’m struck, though, at how both the executive branch and Congress have ignored Trump’s toadying on this. You’d almost believe, in a trough of otherwise heartbreaking decadence, that they understand Russia is really getting out of hand and needs more pressure, and they’re stepping up to do what’s necessary. Now if they’d do their duty on hardening our election infrastucture protections–I know, but a fella can dream, right?

He’ll send a nasty note back to Spankee with Rand Paul.

Yes. I hope in the fullness of time this criminal regime gets the message that they fucked with the wrong people in attacking our electoral process, and us. But first, we have some strings to cut and some housekeeping to do.

Stick it, Prime Minister Ogobitchyakakov.

There’s another piece up right now about a NATO agreement up here in which the national security officials got together and bypassed Trump entirely to strengthen NATO and our part in it. There may be some talk all through this government of boxing him out when there’s serious, adult stuff to be done. In medicine, it’s called collateral circulation. The government may be in some ways knitting together after a wound because there’s still life and purpose in it. Even the most venal cowards can recognize, I hope, that there are things that must be done for the sake of national security. Call me a cockeyed optimist but there are facts that support the thought.

We must brace ourselves for the great honey trap onslaught.

Ha ha yeah thousands of them parachuting in, landing, taking off their helmets, shaking out their sexy manes and smiling fetchingly, there in the back yard. Or swarming out of landing craft onto the Maryland beaches and advancing in bikini-clad battalions on Washington.

I can picture it, with Emin Agalarov’s singing blaring intimidatingly on the loud speakers.

I’ve never had the pleasure of hearing him sing—Wonkette had his video, assured everyone he was bad, and I took them at their word. Life is too short to listen to oligarch’s sons sing.

Don’t worry 'merica…Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, and Trump will solve our trade wars.

In fact, Rand Paul is in Russia right now delivering a secret letter from trump to Uncle Vladimir.

United States of Soviet Russia (USSR under the white nationalist Republican Party. They love white Russians.

I strongly second Wonkette here. Absolutely do not subject yourself to Agalarov’s performance. Even in this moment of adversity, let us remember the Russia of Prokofiev and so much cultural grandeur and wish them recovery from this injury to their heritage.

Yes, I’ve seen other reports of this phenomenon. People in government below the idiot emperor are simply bypassing him to tend to the Nation’s vital business.because they can. He’s too scatterbrained and preoccupied with the growing criminal case(s) against him to notice. But, as in the case with ongoing Russian electoral interference, what we get is the bizarre spectacle of Trump claiming it’s all a “hoax” while his top advisers say the exact opposite (and presumably are doing something about it).

I’m starting to watch with real interest the MD and DC AG suits against Trump for violations of the emoluments clauses. This old CNN clip featuring the Maryland AG is great. It really brings home what an outrage just this one scandal is, especially with that goddamned DC hotel of his.
