Yep. Same way that opposition to interracial marriage gets you ‘labeled’ a racist.

Oh please, I wish republicans would just quit this crap. Religion, religion, religion. No wonder there are more and more people leaving mainstream religion.

I hope that story that was in The Times a few days ago that this clown is the Republican the Hillary camp most fears as a candidate to run against was actually planted by the Hillary people.

“Because today we’ve reached the point in our society where if you do
not support same-sex marriage you are labeled a homophobe and a hater.”

Yes. That’s right, Captain Obvious. You are NOT considered to be some sort of reasonable, measured thinker. protecting his “religious views”. You are considered to be a sh*thead.

That is all.

Shouldn’t this lightweight address his drinking problem first?

Newsflash Marco; no one cares what the Catholic Church teaches, as long as it isn’t enshrined into law. Pray in your rooms as Jesus requires, and not in public like the hypocrites, and nobody will bother you.

What a freaking ignorant moron.

It’s about FREEDOM, asshole. You know, for all, since this is America. Live and Let Live, right?

Also, too, First and Fourteenth Amendment.

What a fuckin’ douchebag.

Um…I’m no rocket surgeon, but if you “attend a gay wedding” I think you are supporting same sex marriage – unless you bring a protest sign and chain yourself to the altar. It’s kind of like saying I’m opposed to the death penalty, but I’d attend an execution if someone close to me asked…

Yup. Just like opposition to immigration reform gets you labeled a pendejo.

The “mainstream christian speech” preaches hate only, Rubio should be asked to quote the leader of Christian speech Jesus Christ. He can choose any subject to speak on except he has to quote the teachings of Jesus Christ He won’t none of the republican so called chehristians ever do, they would not know Jesus if they tripped over him! /some mainstreet pundit PLEASE ask him to quote Jesus speech!

First of all, a majority of United States Catholics are OK with same sex marriage.

More importantly, Christians are supposed to follow Jesus, and Jesus never said a single word critical of homosexuality.

Since the 1930s Christianity has been hijacked by right-wing oligarchs and turned into the opposite of what it originally was. The Republican Jesus is totally absent in all four Gospels.

I’m not sure what “at the water’s edge” means (is that a Catholic thing?) but we are at risk of losing the separation of church and state.

What’s your point?

Like I’ve been saying: today’s Republican Party is a theocratic party.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) warned that opposition to same-sex marriage will eventually turn into a full-on assault on the teachings of the Catholic Church.

I dunno, dude. Pope Francis doesn’t seem all that concerned that’s gonna happen. Maybe you guys should listen to him a little more.

Post hoc: Or maybe just listen to Jesus a little more, because it sounds like this sort of thing might actually be good for you, Marco:

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Of course, the kicker is the conditional falsely. If the criticism is accurate – sorry dude. You’re busted.

What we want is for the Catholic Church and other mainstream Christian groups to teach what the bible actually DOES say about gay marriage…which is nothing. Jesus never mentioned homosexuality a single time. There are 7 mentions of homosexuality throughout the entire bible, none of them having to do with a committed, loving same sex relationship. That is why there are many Christians and churches who support SSM. So, Marco, as long as you speak the truth about it, no problem…you won’t be labeled a homophobe. But when you pick and choose, when you distort what the Scriptures actually do say…you deserve your label…well earned.

“First, they came for our flat earth. Then, they came for our sinful homos. When will the lies end?!?”

“Mainstream Christianity”? Does that include the Episcopal Church, the Methodist Church, and large portions of other denominations that not only don’t have a problem with marriage equality, but perform the services?
