Discussion for article #225461
āEven before this speech is over, I will be attacked as someone who is a hater or a bigot,ā Rubio said.
So stand your ground, verbally, Rubio! Fire back with your bullet points and annihilate your opponent with your wit and quick thinking! Never give up! Never back down!
Jerry Seinfeld said the motto of the Seinfeld show was: āNo hugging. No learning.ā Adopt it as your own!
Well, what he was really saying there is āI hope I will be attacked as a hater or a bigot before this speech is over. I really need the media attentionā
Rubio is dead man walking as far as presidential aspirations are concerned. This, like most everything he does now, is aimed at making him look like a viable bulldog to be a VP selection.
Oppressors face intolerance from those they oppress. What an outrage?
The term is scorn not intolerance.
Poor baby? Rubio can attack others but canāt take the heat that comes from doing it? Have a drink of water, Senator, it should make you more comfortable with your cowardliness.
I imagine opponents of the Emancipation Proclamation face intolerance, too. As a nation we should find ways to respect and accommodate their views.
He should help the GOP nominee as much as Ryan helped Romney.
As always, we see who the REAL victim is.
Thereās no real power to his convictionsā¦such as they are. What Rubio is saying here is that heās just a political opportunist and says what he knows his voter base wants to hear but resents having to take the heat for saying it.
No wonder the TeaParty grassroots canāt wait till they get rid of all these faker conservative Republican incumbents.
I would not count out Rubio, just as I would not count out Christie.
Remember how desperate the 2012 GOP primary base was for a pristine, āConstitutional Conservativeā candidate that they lurched from Trump to Santorum, looking for a nominee?
Probably will be a repeat in 2016 and no one should be counted out.
Heās a victim of his own craven gutlessness. What a coward. He wants us to think most Christians cringe when the going gets tough?
Youāre saying that they donāt have anything better to run. I agree.
So Rubio wants us to be tolerant of his intolerance.
And he takes umbrage that we are not.
There is a special place in Hell for Rubio and his cohorts.
Yes Marco, people who hate and foster intolerance are the real victims.
Honestly the GOP doesnāt need real candidates, just some version of a chatty Cathy doll where, when you pull the string they say things like:
āIām a proud Americanā
āGay Marriage is Wrongā
āCorporations are peopleā
āNo health careā
āOBama is Muslimā
I wonder if Rubio would support the same ātoleranceā for groups like the KKK. I mean, they just have different views is all.
Ryan was forced upon Romney, because the right simply did not trust him alone. I have always had the feeling that Ryan was rather reluctant to accept, for exactly the reasons that actually played outā¦He wouldnāt play well on a national stage, and the The Stench would forever be associated with him.
Rubio, on the other hand, is willing to be ANYONEās pick. Because, A) he knows he will be facing a very tough re election fight in FL and B) being VP is the only chance he ever has of getting a seat in the White House.
The A) part above is problematic for him, however. In theory, a Senator from FL would be a very good pick for a VP,simply based on the geography (republicans have zero chance of getting the WH in 2016 if they canāt win FLā¦just like 2012 and 2008). But that assumes that the Senator can easily win his stateā¦something that is very much in question for Rubio right now.
Additionally, however, republicans (and Rubio himself) think his brown skin and name will be enough to woo Hispanic votersā¦entirely ignoring the fact that Cubans arenāt not well liked by Mexicans and vice versa (or any other Hispanic bloc for that matter).
This last point has always been a bit of a curiosity to me. Rubio should be quite aware of the problems with relations between American-Cubans and other Hispanic blocs. But so far, he seems completely unaware of it.
But they still might have Bachmann!
Hey, Marioānow you know what it feels like.
Yes, thatās right tolerance is a two-way street. Gay people are supposed to ātolerateā being told they canāt get married. So therefore you should have to tolerate being called a bigot and a hater. Sounds like everything can go on just as it is.
Number 1 or number 2 on the GOP play list when addressing the knuckle dragging crowd is play the victim. Which usually gets them all riled up and quite possibly shake loose a couple dollars from the rubes
