Discussion: Rubio Camp Accuses Cruz Of More 'Dirty Tricks' To 'Undermine' Rubio

Discussion for article #247044

Cruz: I am master at controlling media. If Rubio/Trump cant handle this, what can they possible do as POTUS as our main job is manipulate liberal media. I have also had significant experience in shutting down govt if it doesnt do what I want it to do. I will be a gentle dictator as POTUS.

Cruz obviously isn’t playing along with the Establishment’s plan to keep Rube propped up. Can’t say that I blame him. The fact that Rube is scratching and clawing just to win his home state is proof of how weak Rube is,as if any more proof was needed at this point.

They call this a dirty trick? Sending an email with a real media report?

What a bunch of WATB pantywaists. What a bunch of entitled little twits. When Marco gets that 3:00 am call, will he say it’s not faaaairrrrr for Putin to invade another country while its 3:00 am in Washington?

You know what a “dirty trick” is Cottonmouth? It’s forging a letter disparaging Canadians on stolen stationary. It’s anonymous pamphlets claiming a candidate fathered a child out of wedlock. It’s bugging the headquarters of your opponent. It’s flooding black neighborhoods with fake notices saying people whose last names begin with L-Z vote on Wednesday.

This is called “politics,” you sniveling dilettante.

Cruz Campaign sent out a release to Hawaii voters LATE last night, even after CNN story was debunked. Disgusting. pic.twitter.com/WL09Bx9igI

Journalists publish stories all the time with their sources talking only if not for attribution. Some prove true, some false, some a mix of truth and error. Rubio is a public figure. CNN is free to report on him, and get it wrong if sources or sloppy reporting betray the facts. It's goddamned politics. For Rubio to cry something has been "debunked" when it was his own campaign that did the debunking is pathetic. Deny a story and move on. If your opponent picks it up and runs with it, sucks to be you. Grow a pair.

The original report is based on anonymous sourcing. She never identified who she was talking to, and as I pointed out at the time, it makes no sense for the Rubio campaign to be considering dropping out when they are closing the gap in FL according to all polling, and they are actually leading in early voting.

My suspicion is still that CNN talked to someone associated with the Cruz campaign. Cruz wants Rubio gone, and its perfectly in keeping with their play book. Get the media to report something, then point to the report and use it to drive away the competition’s voters.

So yeah…I am leaning towards this being a Cruz dirty trick.

I actually said this on a previous thread, only, I thought I was kidding.

“…There’s no place for [dirty tricks] in Republican politics.”

I think it’s, um, quaint that anyone on the 'pub side can make such a statement with a straight face.

Well, when your one-trick pony is whining to the refs, what else can you do? A good indicator of how Rubio would react if given Executive power… but who would he whine to then? Perhaps he could do some soul-gazing with Putin and be his little bitch?

Yeah. They’ve gone way beyond ‘dirty tricks’.

hey ya know maybe crusty the cruz is psychic…or he knows that rubihoe doesn’t have a chance … like he knows he doesn’t have a chance at being president

Does this result in a Trump victory in FL?

This is one of the things I hate about this time of year. News organizations get so hot and bothered to get a story no one else has that they’ll publish anything, regardless of the fact that it has real world voting implications. And the campaigns will take advantage of the fact that fact-checking doesn’t take place between February and November every 4 years…

I think the fact that Trump is up 13% in the polls in Florida is more likely to result in a victory there… Especially since Rubio’s support has been flagging as the establishment jumps ship to rally behind Cruz.

Rubio is doing great. He has won Puerto Rico.

Anonymous sourced articles…with literally only one anonymous source quoted…from the campaign trail should be laughed off by every editor in the country.

It takes nothing to sit down in a local hotel bar where all campaigns are gathering and strike up a conversation with a reporter. And even less to claim you are associated with campaign X, or heard such and such about campaign X from person B they other day.

Especially with such a crowded field. It becomes that much more difficult for any reporter to know all the players, and who is switching teams and when. I mean, CNN was still acting like Stone wasn’t affiliated with Trump’s campaign after the faux firing. So imagine how it works down at the bottom of these organizations.
