About fucking time. Censure that cow molesting son of a bitch.
“Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein plans to call on the House to investigate the conduct of House Intelligence Committee staffers…”
Shorter Rod: “Jig’s up, Devin.”
Of course, Faux News is running completely in the other direction and painting this as Trump’s chance to rid himself of Rosenstein…
At what point does it cease to be free speech and “journalism” and become obstruction? I would like nothing more for that line to be tested.
This ought to go over swimmingly.
I’d like to see civil cases brought against Fox. Surely Fox’s lies have convinced people to take actions that resulted in harm to themselves or others. That would be better, IMO, than direct government action against Fox.
A clever attorney like Rosenstein knows the answers before he even asks the question. No doubt Rosenstein knows what’s in the texts and e-mails is incriminating. Those staffers should be shaking in their boots. And if they perceived it as a threat, it’s only because they have something to hide.
I also like the timing by Rosenstein. This thing should start to heat up as the midterms draw close.
I’d settle for charging the entire Murdoch family with conspiracy against the United States and seizing all of their assets.
So who is the House Counsel and where does it go from here? Is he/she bound to investigate on Rosenstein’s request and what if he doesn’t?
The other thing I’ll add is that while I’m not a lawyer, I’m still unconvinced that Mueller won’t indict Trump as a sitting President.
Most legal experts I’ve heard say it’s an unresolved issue but Justice Department guidelines dont permit this.
But I’d submit we’re in uncharted waters already with -and I don’t say this hyperbolically- a Russian agent in the White House. We’re seeing an aggressive Rod Rosenstein here who, no doubt, has many more facts laid before him than the public has. And I’ll bet they’re chilling. I can easily see him give Mueller the go-ahead in indicting Trump. Again, I’m not a lawyer and could be completely off-base here.
Then Rosenstein can document failure of due diligence and add it to his, undoubtedly bugeoning evidence files on HIC staff and Nunes’ misconduct
Replying to myself is weird, but I want to add…on a related note…that years before Spanky announced a run for office (sometime in 2009-12), I seriously wondered if Murdoch’s Wendi Deng had ties to Russia as well as to China. I don’t recall exactly what prompted me to think she might, but it had to do with Fox’s obvious efforts to undermine U.S. democracy. I found a few suggestions, but nothing concrete at the time. How interesting it was to then discover in 2016 that she was Ivanka’s friend and was rumored to be dating Vladimir Putin.
I’ve always thought Deng seemed suspicious. How did a supposedly malnourished Chinese woman raised in poverty become a six-foot tall volleyball athlete? And why was her true background covered up (must have been)?
Perhaps at the point when Rosenstein connects Hannity, Assange, and the House Intelligence staffers regarding Mark Warner’s leaked text messages.
Liked x1000.
I wonder if Ryan will allow this…it would be investigating the orange’s troops/enablers.
…but to what end? The orange and his enablers (Ryan etc…) will stop that.
It’s precisely (the Republicans on) this committee that have been howling the loudest about bias in the DOJ. A reasonable person can assume, then, that the committee has been pursuing its work in an unbiased manner. Rosenstein is saying, “Well, then, put up or shut up.”
A “civil case…against…” FuxSnooze could be a good move, but since IANAL i can’t see how any person not in MBloomberg’s wealth level could afford to proceed in such an attempt.
Please advise.
(IANAL) – me neither but class action suits are one possible option.
ETA: I’m surprised, really, that parents of Sandy Hook didn’t bring a suit against Roger Stone.
