No. You don’t get to leave. And you don’t get to leave things with an apology. One thing the Catholic church got right (in doctrine if not in practice) is that you have to do something to atone for your sins. Not just say “gee, I’m sorry, my bad” and go on acting like a jerk.

I was trying to come up with a joke about how horrible Roseanne is, but I’ve got nothing. She’s just an awful racist, and there’s nothing funny about that.
And I agree with @tena, shame on John Goodman for being a part of this. And the rest of the cast as well.

It’s one thing to say, ‘he got into a good college cause he was black’ (something trump said about Obama). It’s totally racist, but also bound up in politics and social/economic resentment, etc…
Comparing a person of African descent to an ape is the ugliest kind of pure race hatred. There is no social context where that is understandable or just a joke. You are right, you can’t just say sorry. You need to show repentance. I can’t believe ABC or whomever produces her show would allow it to stay on the air.
