With the line in the sand now drawn, it’s on between Team Venal and Team Phony.
Memo to Mitt Romney: Beware of the evil you see in others, it might be the evil within yourself.
Yeah, and Romney’s vanity is such that he thinks he could be the “savior” at the Convention in the event of a deadlock.
This definitely is a bourbon kind of day for me. I wish Mittens could see that most of his comments are democratic values. i.e. not bashing protesters, rejecting the racism Trump has shown repeatedly, his misogyny and so much more. Yet he has to be a GOPer.
And that leaves Cruz, Rubio or Kasich. Not much to choose from in my opinion
Cruz? Even if he got elected the Congress would never work with him
Rubio? the boy wonder?
Ohio’s Kasich?
Very sad line up
And then there’s Carson and his pyramid scheme.
The GOP should be ashamed of itself.
Right message;wrong messenger.
We need people with political power to protest, but few will display the courage.
now that Krispie has left the race, there’s room in the clown car for at least 2 more candidates
And yet, Romney was “proud” to have his endorsement in 2012.
Hypocrisy much? This is the GOP’s dilemma in microcosm. Accepting and pandering to racism as long as they don’t have to say it outright, and it gets them votes. Frankenstein’s monster has turned on you, GOP.
WELP
The debate tonight is going to be ALL SORTS OF FUN…
“Go to the Light, GOP. Just go to the Light! See Grandma? Go to Grandma, GOP! She’s waiting for you! And, look!! There’s Rags!! Woof Woof!! Go see Rags, GOP!!”
The key thing to watch is who jumps on board with Romney. If it becomes an avalanche of support, then Trump has a problem. If it is crickets, then he is the nominee.
We’ve already seen opportunist scumbags like Newt and Christie jump on board with Trump. GOPers have a big decision to make.
My honest guess is they give in to Trump, because they have no principles.
Makes sense, but how does that help them in the short term? If they take this thing away from Trump, his voters will be rioting in the streets. Look at how they react when someone so much as interrupts a speech. And the truth is that their anger will be completely justified. Handing the nomination off to someone else is, IMO, just as detrimental to the long and short term goals of the party as letting him lose.
In what may be an unprecedented speech? May be?
Okay, I’ll bite - please name one other event which may rival this.
That was the kind of speech that usually happens in private, heavily-guarded rooms in isolated places.
I think that this is the early beginnings of a third, right wing party. Call it the Freedom Party. Mittens and the GOP establishment may stupidly think they’ve got a handle on Rump’s people but they’re so far from the truth it’s ridiculous. The mere idea that they had to drag out a failed presidential candidate (TO THE BLACK MAN IN THE WH) shows that this is their last try. After this, they’re finished.
Why do I say that? Look at the article on the White supremacist that interviewed mini Rump. He doesn’t give a shit about any of the stuff Mittens brought up; none of it. People like him feel personally betrayed by the GOP establishment.
Ironic, that the Republican Party’s elder statesman is Romney, loser of the last election, and not a certain two term president.
I don’t doubt he believes his HRC crap – he is in a closed bubble in which it is obligatory to bash the Clintons – but in comparison to Trump? A braver statement would have been to admit that he will not vote for the GOP nominee if it is Trump and that sane republicans would be better off supporting the democrats this election cycle and recouping for 2200. But of course, that did not happen – and will not – at least not yet.
For such a hypocrite as R-Money to go after The Drumpfter for being a “crony capitalist” should only bode well for for The Drumpfter. I suspect this will mark the day The Drumpf’s nomination was made a certainty. Thanks, again, for nuthin’, Mittens. If you had really wanted to torpedo his candidacy it would have been much better to endorse him.
