Why are experienced politicians holding out for the emergence of a 3rd party alternative? A great many states have byzantine rules regarding such candidates. Deadlines loom or have passed. Thousands of verified signatures need procured and verified, with mechanisms allowed for opponents to subsequently lodge challenges and demand revocation of many. Fundraising would compete with Democrats and Republicans. Donors would hesitate to cross either Clinton or Trump in fear of future negative ramifications. It’s ludicrous to think the launch of a 3rd party campaign nearing June would amount to anything more than a protest, one ripe for apt accusations of being no more than an effort to drain votes from Trump and scuttle his prospects. Brazenly scheming to thwart the party nominee (however toxic he is) can do nothing but harm the reputations and futures of those joining the enterprise. Doubly stupid as it’s a doomed enterprise out the gate if the goal is actually getting their 3rd party candidate elected.

Spot on. Mittens never had a natural “base” other than the ultra rich. He couldn’t even fake it. The only reason the Rethug base did vote for him at all was to get the Black man out of the White House.
Didn’t work, Yet he still sees himself as some sort of de facto leader of the same party.
Someone needs to put a bullhorn right up to Mittens ear and tell him that the TRUE Rethug base has chosen their leader. Pure and simple.

I do wish that our Dem pols would not only call out the false-equivalency each time it is utilized, but also point out to voters that this is deliberate obfuscation tactic employed by republicans. Describe the deliberate tactic so voters can recognize it when they hear it. Call out the MSM parrots too!
