Discussion: RNC Pulls Out Of Joint Fundraising Agreement With Roy Moore

This time.

But you know how Republicans roll. One election, it’s beyond the bounds of the tolerable to talk about “legitimate rape” and crack victim-blaming “jokes” about holding an aspirin between your knees and by the next cycle, you’re seig heiling the sexually harassing pussy-grabbing daughter-ogling abusive serial adulterer with allegations of pederasty smoking around the edges of his reputation right into the White House.

By 2022, they’ll have the evangelicals voting for child pornographers and snuff film producers.

Have we gotten a statement from Denny Hastert yet?

Just in case you haven’t seen it yet,The Guardian came out with a new piece a few hours ago that looks into Moore’s case history from the bench. I know it will shock the snot right out of you but he sides with pederasts and rapists and often falls on the dissenting side.

Here’s a disgusting clip:

– Eric Higdon, a daycare center intern convicted of raping a four-year-old boy and accused of assaulting several other young children. Moore in July 2015 said “sodomy is an abhorrent crime and should be strictly punished” but argued the evidence did not support a lower court’s finding that Higdon had assaulted a child using “forcible compulsion”.

Someone will have to explain to me how a grown man can rape a 4-year-old toddler without “forcible compulsion”. Me thinks the Moore doth empathize too much…

Doesn’t look that way to me, either. You are on the ball and then some.

I think @chelsea530 was addressing that as the universal solution, rather than as personal advice to you.

Doubtful. If the RNC is publicly pulling out, at least part of the reason is big donors are telling them to.

Moore doesn’t need a lot of money anyway, particularly at this late date. He has shied away from big media buys, largely surrendering the airwaves to Jones. My understanding is he is running a pretty typical GOP based ground operation, which is very light upon actual on the pavement volunteers and organizing. Basically he is simply relying on voters in deeply red Alabama to pull the lever for republicans. And without this story, he probably would have won fairly easily with that strategy.

Obviously, that’s a problem now, but with only a few weeks until election, there is very little he can do to remedy that. Money isn’t the constraint, time is.

And then there is this:

His wife posted a letter on FB claiming over 50 pastors across the state are endorsing Moore. But dozens of them have come forward and said they signed on to no such thing, and are actually pulling their support. Basically, he and his wife recycled an old endorsement and claimed it was current. Its not.

This is the sort of stupid crap that a well managed campaign would never let happen, because they know its going to blow up in their faces and actually draw MORE attention to the very story they want to go away. I point this out, because its another indication that Moore is running by the seat of his pants, and doesn’t have a well funded campaign.

Oh, and keep in mind, Moore has long been wanting to beat up on Jones for taking money from out of state…yet has been cashing checks from the RNC since winning the nomination. Its just another example of the hypocrisy that is today’s GOP.

I don’t think it was the shame, quite honestly…though it played a part. Its more a combination of the shame + the fact that they are seeing he is going to lose. If the internal polling was indicating he was ahead, they would keep right on fundraising for him., combined with lots of comments about being “deeply concerned”.

Then there is this (clip embedded). Methinks someone is pulling out from there too.

Yeah, Hannity is catching it right in the balls from FOX and from sponsors. That’s why he is basically kowtowing to Keurig right now, trying to woo them back. I am not overly surprised by this. The behind the scenes message seems pretty clear…abandon Moore.

The Republican National Committee on Tuesday withdrew from a joint fundraising agreement with Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore

Yes, after seeing internal polling that says Moore may still win. Careful hedging of bets, and nothing more.

“If worse stuff comes out, we can claim the moral high ground. If he still wins, we can claim the moral high ground. If he loses, we claim the moral high ground.”

Right there, with you, plucky.

Heh. I’m more cynical: RNC has seen internal polling, expects Moore to win, and is just doing damage control going forward, because Ten Commandments Pedophile Roy is going to get incredible media attention, and Ten Commandments Roy is going to step in sh*t on a daily basis.

Damage control: “We disapprove.”

Implicit: “But we think we can weather this”.

The oddest thing about this whole sordid affair, and the thing that’s never said, is that this is not new. This is what Rethugliklans have always been.

The Alabama credo; less Moore and more Strange!

He doesn’t have a well-funded campaign, probably, which won’t matter all that much.

He doesn’t have a well managed campaign, either, because, my guess, no experienced GOP operative was interested, because it was assumed to be a slam dunk.

Which it won’t be, but, Moore wins, my guess, still.

While they should not have been supporting this freak in the first place, I’ll grudgingly give them credit for abandoning him now. His insane ideas about government and religion were toxic enough, but pedophilia is truly over the line. It’s bad enough we have a groper in the White House, we really don’t need to elect one to the U.S. Senate. I would hope we were better than that. I plead with my fellow citizens in Alabama (fellow U.S. citizens, that is), do not send a child molester to the “most exclusive club in the country.”

Wonder what Steve Bannon is doing?
