Lets just ignore the FACT that crime, especially VIOLENT CRIME is down across the board to the level not seen since the 1920’s when America was MUCH more rural and people had much less contact with each other.
The only thing that has gone up is the exploitation of crime by Politicians (Tough on Crime!) the News Media (If it bleeds, it leads) and opportunistic Religious Dominionist (American Taliban) assholes like this one.

As a social liberal,fiscal moderate,somewhat hawkish on defense/foreign policy person,this is the reason I cannot even hold my nose and occasionally cross party lines and vote for a Repub. Starting in the 80’s,the GOP has become so tethered to the evangelical right that I cannot,in good conscience,vote for any Republican.

Prayer hasn’t been taken out of the schools. Any student can pray whenever he or she wants to, quietly to him- or herself. The minute you make it mandatory, it becomes coercive. And guess what? The Constitution says you can’t do that.

My mother had a saying whenever the subject of “banned prayer in school.” She would say, “As long as there are final exams and SAT’s, prayer will be in the schools. I defy you to prove otherwise.” That would shut even the most vocal “that damn Earl Warren, liberal Supreme Court banned prayer in school” loudmouth. Smart woman my mother!

I do believe that most likely many of the the people listening to this lady would feel much better, and a lot more secure in their own lives, if only we still had “total subjugation” of a certain race of people. They do yearn for those days.
(And honestly, it’s only recently that I’ve begun to feel so hopelessly cynical; the right-wing response to Ferguson, the foolishly uncompromising GOP responsoe to “anything Obama,” the sweeping GOP victories in November of EVERYTHING - the Senate, Governors, state legislatures - after the total mismanagement the GOP brought to the U.S. House of Reps, and even though the states in GOP hands are foundering, and then, on top of that, the endless manipulation and lies from the elected class. So much of it, I believe, is driven by racism; a racism so buried in our subconscious layers we don’t even recognize it for what it is.)
