Discussion: RNC Finance Chair Resigns After Allegations Of Sexual Misconduct

Oh he stepped down from his position at the RNC? That’ll learn’em!

The GOP has its Weinstein. Enjoy .

We’ll, actually when she’s dealing with shitty RNC stuff, she has to use the name “Romney”, and when dealing with anything related to the Mueller investigation, she has to call herself Ronna Obama McDaniel. OTOH, if ever she gets to deal with something good, she’ll have to call herself Ronna Trump McDaniel (you’ll note that this has not actually happened yet…).

For those keeping score at home, you should be aware… that statement may sound like a denial, but, in fact, it is not. He’s not denying that he assaulted women. He’s not saying he didn’t do it; he’s describing the “idea” that he did as “preposterous.”

That’s a meta discussion, and orthogonal to the issue at hand.

It’s the same thing that Sessions did when he got caught lying… .he waxed eloquent, (not really), about how offended he was by the notion - but the fact remained, and he did not deny that he had, in fact, lied.

People who know how to detect lying, people who do that for a living, watch for precisely this kind of thing.

Just read somewhere that he only resigned as the Chair of the Finance Committee. It’s not clear that he’s resigned from the Committee itself.

The same approach works for press releases from dinky public companies. Most of them don’t outright lie about factual matters, because that could mean shareholder lawsuits or trouble with the SEC, but you could get a good estimate of the company’s honesty by evaluating the gap between what the press release actually said and what it seemed to say.

GOP on Weinstein:

During three-decades worth of sexual harassment allegations, Harvey Weinstein lined the pockets of Democrats to the tune of three quarters of a million dollars. If Democrats and the DNC truly stand up for women like they say they do, then returning this dirty money should be a no brainer.

GOP on Wynn:

Today I accepted Steve Wynn’s resignation as Republican National Committee finance chair.

Hard to not accept that IOKIYAR is not the rule of the land.

That’s for poor people and Democrats.

In my opinion, one of the more important parts of the story (included in Politico, but left out here)…

“Wynn, 76, was President Donald Trump’s handpicked choice for the finance position.”

A kindred spirit? A fellow mobbed up money-launderer? Just a good guy?

I am not sure about that. Wynn Resorts is a public company. His news had a visible effect. I am also curious about the sudden rise in January as well, but have not had time to figure out what made that hefty bump. His habits just cost the company a chunk-o-change.

I never would’ve foreseen the “Spray-tan-gutan” becoming such a fashion statement, but there it is. Although, it’s a much easier identifier than having to look up the sex offender registry.

Perhaps he means he didn’t ever commit assault and battery. Harassment, extortion, blackmail, those are other crimes.

I vote for Steve Carroll to play this jamoke in the biopic.
