Perhaps this is a good place to start the response:

Why The New Child Rape Case Filed Against Donald Trump Should Not Be Ignored

[No outsider can say whether Mr. Trump is innocent or guilty of these new rape charges. But we can look at his record, analyze the court filings here, and make a determination as to credibility - whether the allegations are believable enough for us to take them seriously and investigate them, keeping in mind his denial and reporting new facts as they develop.I have done that. And the answer is a clear “yes.” These allegations are credible. They ought not be ignored. Mainstream media, I’m looking at you.

  1. Consider the Context: Mr. Trump’s Overt, Even Proud Misogyny
  2. More context: two prior sexual assault court claims have been made against Mr. Trump
  3. The new Jane Doe child rape claim against Mr. Trump is consistent with verifiable facts about Mr. Trump and his friend Jeffrey Epstein, and has a powerful witness statement attached to it.

Based on what we do know now, Jane Doe’s claims fall squarely into the long, ugly context of Mr. Trump’s life of misogyny, are consistent with prior sexual misconduct claims, are backed up by an eyewitness, and thus should be taken seriously. Her claims merit sober consideration and investigation.]

As I noted elsewhere, this convention seems to be one where facts don’t matter, and if facts don’t matter then you don’t need policy, you can do whatever you want and make up reasons to support it. It looks like the Trump campaign has decided to use the convention to slander Clinton, and the best slander is full of lies. Sigh.

I thought Republicans were all about the womenfolk standing by their husbands, and not divorcing one when he whores around on you. Because Jesus. You’d think they’d have her back for defending her husband. But maybe that only applies to Republican womenfolk who aren’t a Clinton.

Raul (Ralph),

I have spent my life looking at macro-systems and historical development. I am going to be blunt:

Trump and his crew, along with the MSM, are taking a systems stroll. And what I mean by that is that what we are looking at here is people in structural-action-enabling positions to effect outcomes. I mention the MSM so much because the United States has a policy of “electing” leaders. Electing leaders depends on voter participation. Essential to the process of voting is information. Not all of this information is regarding policy and leadership style. Much of it contains purely emotive content. The overwhelming thrust of (MSM-based) information American voters are now getting is skewed drastically in the direction of Donald Trump.

The Democrats may well stage a convention which is positive and well-run, but the bar is so much higher for them that the projected “bounce” may be worse than if there were lower expectations.

The MSM sets the bar for both parties. In the case of FOX, the disparity is ever greater.

What Trump is now looking for is a con going in multiple directions…(a) to Original Trumpers (a periodic series of offerings of red meat until 8 November)… (b) to the Public at large (a sense of power-of-a-glacier of an inevitable+++, confident, unstoppable march to power–all in keeping with Josh’s notion of Trump’s dominance politics)…(c) to the 5%-10% of voters who are not particularly Trumpers (the jobs and trade con, sweetened by Trump-friendly MSM butterknife non-questions and pandering).

Let’s look at how the structurally nation-destroying-by-abrogating-its-duty-as-a-fourth-estate MSM achieves Trump’s aims in (a), (b) and (c) above

(a) Trump’s read meat to racists. Where is the MSM with proper placement of this bigotry in the context of American moral standards?

(b) For the MSM…what are the BASES for this confidence? What (if any) are the projected benefits for the American people as a whole as a result of your policies? What is your vision and the CONSEQUENCES of your vision?

(c) For the MSM…you were previously against the rise in the minimum wage. How does this square with your “jobs” appeal to voters? What is going to pay for the projects you advocate. Specifics please.

None of this is going to happen, because the MSM fix is in. In any other country with a more engaged electorate for people below age 50, the above would not be much of a problem. As randyabraham said earlier, we don’t need the MSM. I have a caveat.

I say: “We SHOULDN’T need the MSM, but they still alter minds” **

** To the point where outstanding posters here at TPM besides me are extremely displeased with them. I have been asking for the last week for suggestions on how to stop the MSM but have given up. I tried to cheer up another poster a couple of days ago, but I am not a native of this country and have very little sense of whether the American people understand Trump’s menace

+++ I have been a voracious reader of WWII. One passage of a narrative I read years ago was an account of an American soldier engaged in conversation with a German POW. The German was told by the G.I. that he was from Connecticut. The German was instantly alert and began to speak in a very knowledgeable fashion on specifics of the area whence the G.I. came. This shocked the G.I. and this led to reasons for this knowledge…Perhaps an American relative? No. It was because the German was assigned to an area when the Germans WERE TO HAVE CONQUERED THE U.S. Chris Christie making plans so as to allow Trump to more easily fire government workers at all levels upon ascension to the Presidency is an example of the inevitabiity of Trump as 45th President.

At this point, it’s hardly even that - it’s to ensure that everyone backing Trump views Clinton and anyone supporting her as criminal and illegitimate when she wins, and therefore deserving of nullification or even “Second Amendment remedies”.
