I don’t know if there is polling evidence, but I suspect that Trump’s blip in the polls is over. I’m sure he got a boost from being all Presidential in Mexico. Meanwhile the latest email stories hurt Clinton.

Edit: One thing I notice is Lauer asked them not to make it a bunch of negative comments toward their opponent, so Trump mostly threw the negative comments toward Obama, and then claimed he’d do a lot better. No explanation or details on how he’d do better, just that he would.

I will have to go back and review the transcript, but from what I recall, every time he attacked Obama, he added Clinton’s name. In addition he threw out numerous little cheap shot insults directly at her.
Trump realized that Lauer was a putz fairly early on, and knew he could say and do pretty much whatever he wanted and Lauer was going to whimper, roll over, and expose his belly. And in fairness, Trump wasn’t wrong.
Twitter last night, and the pretty uniformly, the media this morning, are all checking in to say Lauer did a lousy job. Josh might be the only one trying to defend him, and even his defense is pretty half hearted.
