Discussion: RNC Chair: GOP 'Could Have A Problem' In Texas If We're Not Careful

“Carve Austin into 9 pieces instead of just 5.”

It’s currently 6. And I’m sure they would’ve carved up east Austin (our one remaining Democratic representative’s district) too if they thought the courts would’ve allowed it. For now, there are too many Latino and African American residents living in that area to allow them to get away with those shenanigans. But the area’s quickly gentrifying, and you know what that means. :frowning:

Sorry to hear. :skull:

I really hope they keep letting this guy lose to keep shooting off his mouth for the next two years.

This douchecanoe has a positive knack for identifying long term problems for his party that can only be solved by making his party not be the party of stupid angry old white people and the .1% who tell them what to think, which means they are entirely beyond his capacity to solve.

Please learn the difference between "lead"and “led.”

Sounds suspiciously like the “autopsy” done after the 2012 election. RP might be able to identify problems but he is completely unable to enact any strategy’s to combat the problem. When your base hates the very idea of anyone not exactly like themselves, when your party has fed the hatred to the base in king sized portions, when your elected/formerly elected leaders use the hatred of the base to grift every last penny from the base…well, you see the problem.

As always, the distinction is between liberals and conservatives.

Democrat and Republican are just labels, without any underlying ideology that remains the same over time.

This guy has one of the most punchable faces I’ve ever seen.

What’s more, I can’t imagine an Hispanic getting into bed with one, married or not.

I live in Texas but I agree with you. You can ask just about anyone if they’re doing better than when Bush left office, and even if they say well yeah, but the Pres had nothing to do with it.
So many Texans are nuts, certifiably nuts, might be heat (it’s the humidity) but I think it’s all the cousins marrying each other.

I’m thinking you were joking with the cousin comment, but when visiting my daughter I did think many people looked like they were related. Especially the women. Their culture is very cult-like. You really do have to have your state identity be you first ID. I have lived many places(states and foreign countries) and have never been in any other place so self absorbed

As long as California remains uncompetitive, there is almost no way for the GOP to ever win the White House again with Texas and Calif. in the Democratic column. That would be checkmate. So the GOP can never allow Texas to go blue. If it ever starts being competitive, watch for them to start trying to rig the process even further by using their control of state legislatures to change from winner-take-all allocation of electoral college votes to allocation by congressional district or county BUT ONLY IN BLUE STATES like Michigan or Pennsylvania.

When (possibly by 2016) Texas goes parity brown, then the WH will never again be red.

There is a problem in Texas and he wears horn rimmed glasses and is kind of dumb.
And there is that other guy that paints pictures of his own feet in the bathtub and ruined the nation before he went into hiding in, Texas.

Apparently they are color blind in Tejas also because the state is turning brown and will pass right by purple in one cataclysmic moment. Tan might be a better metaphor than purple. It will be white, white, white, tannish, tan, frickin’ brown and done.

Like most things, it is just a matter of time. And think about it. When they build that dang fence, they will be keeping the Mexicans ‘in’ Texas. Yeefrickinhaw, boy howdy and pass them dadgum booreetoes!

Priebus is right. My hope for Davis wasn’t victory, but a buildup of the volunteer base and the registration rolls. Winning was asking too much, but I hope Democrats made progress. Demographics won’t do it alone. If the GOP loses Texas, it will be a minority for a long time.

Little rnc-pr-bs is just reflecting on the State of affairs in the rabid south…not REFLECTIVE OF AMERICANS OR AMERICA…

thank you roberts activist males on the court…and lying liars of the tea gop!

Rinsy must mean some brown people could get to the polls in '16.

There are two things democrats need to do to become competitive. Turnout to vote is of course one. The other is redistricting. Now admittedly I don’t know much about the redistricting process as I was concerned with my science and writing grants when I was working. I’m now retired. But having looked at the last election in some detail it became obvious to me that republicans have excelled for some time in gerrymandering districts in their extreme favor. Democrats need to get off their high horse and get to work to change this.
Pronto.

Redistricting is determined by state legislatures.

State legislatures are usually determined in midterm elections.

Republicans usually win midterm elections.
