Discussion: Rival Koreas To Form Unified Team, Parade Together At Winter Olympics

Could an ironic consequence of Trump’s foreign policy bluster be an increase in cooperation between the two Koreas? South Koreans must be scared to death of all the war talk coming from Trump’s circle.

South Korea is going to take the brunt of any North Korean attack, either with conventional or nuclear weapons, so they have the most to lose if relations with NK continue to degrade. At this point, it would be best if the US butted out and let them work on improving diplomatic relations but Trump won’t be able to stand not being the center of attention and he will undoubtedly say and do stupid things that will make the process difficult or impossible.

Only Nixon could go to China.

Only Trump could unite the two Koreas.

Has that kind of look, doesn’t it? Well I’d just as soon see them settle down and perhaps start making movements toward each other so if Trump has that affect, ok.

Was wondering the same thing.

Yes, looks like Trump’s lunacy makes NK seem like the safer partner. I imagine that quite a few countries are rethinking their ties to us and the risk that Trump’s blunder & bluster might put them in.

It’s a trick! I don’t know what’s going on here, but something’s not right.

Trounce, otoh, is Ununified.

Yes, and I believe Trump is just itching to launch a nuclear strike.

Bet Cognitive Donnie didn’t see that one coming on the test…

The people who listen to North Korea all the time and who know and fully understand the language seem to be the ones least fearful. Perhaps we should take notice of this. After all, we only hear the translated hyperbole.

I think you are right. But the reason behind it is not good for the US. With the US no longer a stable partner for S. Korea they are isolated and stranded. With the US being the biggest driver of nuclear war in the region, this is an attempt by the Koreas to avoid it. A necessary consequence is gonna be S. Korea aligning itself with China over the US. With the remaining S.E. Asian countries headed in that direction ever since Trump killed the TPP (and with LatAm also getting closer to China than the US) the US will become severely diminished as a result.

If S Korea cannot trust the US anymore, no one else can.
