Discussion: Rift Between Pompeo And Bolton At Heart Of North Korea Summit Failure

The decision was so abrupt that the White House didn’t have a chance to alert Congressional leaders or foreign allies ahead of time and the letter went public while dozens of journalists were inside North Korea to witness the demolition of its nuclear test sites. Trump was reportedly eager to pull out of the denuclearization talks because he didn’t want North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to do it before him, NBC News reported.

Finely. Tuned. Machine. Very finely.

It’s hard to determine if the infighting that is crippling this incompetent administration is a good thing or a bad thing. The more shit they fail to get done seems like a win to me but we’re the only remaining Super Power and we’re at the mercy of evil clowns.

So trump opts to go with advice from Bolton, the crazy guy. I’m shocked … what could possibly go wrong ?

And so ends another episode of the Apprentice President haha reality show. Both teams are angry, confused and yelling WTF while the world teeters on thermonuclear horror. Analysis will be restricted to teevee ratings as compiled by FOX.

And where some of the remaining folks make his bureaucratic infighting skills look like a white belt. Pretty much everyone at State would be competing to shiv him.

Meanwhile, poor Pompeo is laboring under the delusion that he was actually supposed to engage in diplomacy instead of being a pompous-looking placeholder. (OK, I don’t feel sorry for him at all.)

Forget negotiating with a hostile foreign power, our “all the best people” foreign policy team can’t even negotiate with themselves. Sad.

I think it’s a pretty sure thing that Bolton wouldn’t make it out of committee.

I love the smell of infighting in the morning.

This isn’t about palace intrigue. Bolton was, frankly, restrained. Did these folks forget what a nut he was in the mid 00’s with Bush? This is about a fundamental policy failure when you put morons in charge of important issues.

The MSM and nat sec experts are still missing the fundamental issue here. The meeting was always about burnishing Trump’s approval ratings. It had nothing to do with policy.

The real failure happened in 2017, when Trump’s bellicose rhetoric convinced the South Koreans that he was much crazier and more unfit than Kim. They felt the risk to their people of collateral damage from a US first strike was much higher. It’s because of that that Moon reached out to Kim and began this rapprochement which essentially normalizes the NK dictatorship. I’m not upset with Moon about it. He had to do what he had to do to protect his people. But this is Trump’s failure. The fact that our nat sec establishment and commentariat doesn’t see that is mind-blowing to me.

Maybe the NRA should approach these two with a deal on some old dueling pistols … or they could Errol Flynn it out with swords. Either way, I’d love to see some live coverage.

Who could possibly have known that this sterling fellow

would turn out to be a warmongering fool?

. . . and we cancelled military exercises with South Korea that irritated North Korea and they wanted us to cancel. Ultimately, we did so for no real reason, so North Korea got what it wanted and we got what we already had, an embarrassment of a president.

But Bolton has hair on his face and in trumpworld that is a firing offense.

Turmoil within the Reichskanzlei? Amazing!

One would almost think it was planned that way.

There will be no peace anywhere as long as Bolton is working in government. The man is a clear and present danger to civilization. He is utterly contemptible.
