This is not “classical Christian doctrine”, at all. This is fundamentalist perversion of a faith held by many. These people have become an ugly face of Christianity, not its true representation. Most often these people are petty grifters using their version of “faith” to accomplish some selfish end.
Whenever someone says that they “know” whether it is or is not “God’s will” with respect to a political matter, be assured that this person is a fraud.

Every time one of these numbnuts says something offensive and stupid about women or blacks or immigrants or gays or science, I wonder is this it? Is this finally the moment that, say, 10-15% of the GOP (I can’t imagine it being any more) says, “Ugh, that’s it, I don’t want to be in this party anymore. It’s changed.” But It never seems to happen.
