Discussion: Rick Perry: Brouhaha Over Calls To Families Of Fallen Soldiers ‘Asinine’

So the president telling the families of the men and women who die for their country that he appreciated them in the job while they were alive is a waste of time, eh, Governor Goodhair?

Yes, and Rick has been waiting for a chance to use a three-syllable word. Edit: Sorry I was in too much of a hurry and missed not_so_fluffy’s comment before I typed.

And Ricky knows asinine.

Secy Perry, while you were Governor of Texas did you ever call the spouse of a fallen Texas State Trooper?
Was it an important call to make?
Were you sincere while extending condolences, focusing only on empathy for the grief of family and friends’ loss?
Were you ever worried about what previous Governors of Texas had done in the same situation?
Did you have to be goaded into the act… or was it done simply because it was proper and fitting to do in the loss of a person as well as an honorable servant of the people and the state of Texas?

Please ask your boss these questions and let me know the answers.

Pot, meet Kettle.

So basically he is calling his boss an Ass? Because Trump started it, he was asked about US involvement in Niger that many people were not aware. And he made about phone calls to relatives.

Mirabile dictu! Rick Perry almost makes sense! Almost.

The Presidents of the United States each have a love for this country,” he said. “They have a love for the young men and women who serve and the families who have lost them. I think anyone who questions that — now do they handle it differently? Yes, and that’s OK.

Wrong, lickspittle. Your boss doesn’t give a damn about the soldiers.

He’s a Sid.

If it’s okay for presidents to handle this duty differently (which I agree it is), then why did Trump claim that he was doing it better than those who preceded him? That would be crass even if it were true but it happened not to be true, which just makes it into a huge issue when there would be none. So Ricky boy, if you have a problem it’s with your Dear Leader, not the rest of us.

And P.S. – the reporter didn’t even ask about outreach to the families. He asked about failing to make any statement about the incident. Trump CHOSE to bring up contacting the family. Once again, his own GD fault, not anyone else’s.

I am impressed that Secretary Prick Berry can use a word like “asinine” in a sentence.

That’s because it’s his middle name.

Yeah - it was Trump, as usual, who started all of this by getting angry when he was accused of what he was doing - ignoring these servicemen’s deaths for 13 weeks.

He fired back and then contacted them and did it rather begrudgingly to say the least. Then he gets called on that and does he say I’m sorry if they took it that way? No he gets mad again and has everybody around him swear the gold star family is lying along with the Congresswoman.

Now the interesting thing will be how long he keeps this going. He always starts it and keeps every petty little fucking grievance and argument going as long as he can.

Yeah - the issue was why there had been no WH comment on the Niger incident. In classic misdirection, Trump made it about something else entirely, condolences to families, which was not the issue raised at all.

Perry, D2S got busted by not doing the calls/letters, then was busted again for making it all about him. Go back to raping the Earth, it’s what you’re good for.

And it’s rather telling that there’s no recording of the phone call to the victims’ families. Don’t they tape pretty much everything in the Oval Office?

Just askin’.

For a friend.

And where did you serve again, Cadet Perry?

Yeah boy, who cares how we treat the families of the fallen…

Mr Perry, it matters how Gold Star families are treated. Out of common decency which trump lacks. It matters that trump is mentally ill
