“Now politics, ironically enough, was not one of them,” he said. “But what happened the other day violates the spirit of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”
“This Nature article about the egg-laying habits of frogs, toads, and salamanders ironically does not address the nesting of rabbits”
What is ironic about this? Explain for the class, Mr. Haass.
Yep, the words, protected class being the operative ones to focus on. But, according to this dipsh*t, the “spirit” of the Civil Rights Act should have allowed the depraved monster who is the regime’s mouthpiece to be served in a restaurant where she is clearly despised.
I’m pretty sure “lying white Christian nationalist neofascist propaganda fountain” is not a protected class. You make of yourself a public pariah, you get to enjoy being treated as one. Hosts on these shows should keep a rolled up newspaper handy, so they can bop asshats like this guy on the nose and say “no…NO…that’s a bad whitey” when they say stupid shit like this.
Personally, I think the restaurant owner was doing Sanders a favor by getting her out of the building. No telling what might have ended up on her plate, or who might have gagged and thrown up on her. I get nauseous just looking at her. Can’t imagine how I’d feel if I had to serve her.
For several years now, and especially since the advent of the Tea Party, things have gone “tribal”, and it is not the fault of the left. In the past, I might have agreed that booting Sanders out of a restaurant based on politics was not a great idea. Not now. The only way to stop a bully is to stand up. Let’s have this fight.
With good reason. No great restaurants on the other side. They’d be condemned to IHop and ChickFilA for eternity. Even Shake Shack is owned by a liberal.
I don’t know about the rest of you guys but later this summer we’ll be in DC and the Red Hen is now on our dining itinerary. I know it’s the better part of a couple hundred miles out but we’ll hit it coming and going. Probably leave a sizable tip as well.
Haass also said that the “spirit” of the Civil Rights Act is to protect the feelings of frightened conservative white people. And, to make it harder for black people to vote.
Really! Can someone do a search to see if he has ever open his pie-hole about the thousands of civil rights violations that have become national news over the past 10 years? These people need their tires slashed, at a minimum.
Watching the Villagers clutch their pearls and sniff their smelling salts because people were not nice to poor Sarah is instructive. They don’t give a shit whether you are a believer in democratic republicanism and rule of law or whether you are a corrupt anti-democratic authoritarian inciting racial grievance. If you have power, however obtained, or connections to the powerful you are a member of the DC Cocktail Weenie Sucker Society and what happens to you is a threat to every member of the club.
Many of them are on our side, agree with us that Trump represents an existential threat to democracy and the western liberal democratic postwar order, but that’s no excuse for the proles getting uppity and acting like they’re entitled to exercise power over their betters!
They’re apoplectic over IHop becoming IHob though. Faux News did a bang-up job generating cultural resentment over it and I’m still trying to figure out why it was such an effective trigger issue for their white nationalist target audience.
