Arizona has a low state income tax and bad schools. It often votes for Republicans. But if these GOP geniuses want people to pay federal taxes on money they have already given to the state or local governments, it will be the end of the Republican party here. It doesnā€™t matter a bit if the people in New York and California are getting screwed more. If you are getting screwed only a little bit, it is a big deal no matter how others are doing.

Yes, that was the perfect picture for this article, wasnā€™t it?

The ā€œblueā€ states are already the largest contributor of federal tax dollars, while the ā€œredā€ states are the largest consumers of federal tax dollarsā€¦

Lemme guess. More tax burden for the people who bust their backs to add value to the GDP and raise the next generation of citizens are going to pay more. Plutocrats will pay less.

Only the white christians conservatives who voted for Preshitident Trump in the Republican states deserve the tax cuts. Why not simply give tax cuts to every American who voted for traitor and conman Preshitident Trump and the Russian-owned Republican party and has bought plastic-Barbie doll Ivank Trumpā€™s Chinese-made crap? Why not raise taxes on everyone that voted Democrat? Elections have consequences you know.

I am sure that Kris Kobachā€™s election committee has access to the voting records and to the social security numbers to make this possible.

You expected the GOP to actually know that?

This presents a fine opportunity for us to go to our R friends and family and tell them about this R bill that will take away their tax deductions. It will be like catnip.

Is it clear, given federalism and all that, that this would even pass constitutional muster? Marbury v. Madison and all thatā€¦

One possible snagā€¦does Trump still file a New York state return?

There are enough House members in blue states to enable the Democrats to take back the statesā€¦also, they could lose the Senate.

Yes, and Connecticut, and California? Not to worry, they can always move to their boltholes

Or like the Rectors, declare themselves citizens of their yacht, or Planet Zoom.

ā€œI want to maintain strong public schools. For there to be strong public schools, there has to be adequate spending.ā€

Well, thatā€™s the wrong argument for Republicans. Theyā€™d rather not have public schools at all, much less strong ones.

Lie and cheat Republicans. Party over country.

Every single effing time.

The White House and congressional Republicans have been privately negotiating their tax package for weeks, with no public sign that theyā€™re near a consensus. Democrats have been excluded from the talks.

Itā€™s high time we remind the GOP loudly and clearly that we are not a one-party nation. They currently have a slight majority, not a total mandate. They donā€™t ā€œrule the countryā€. It is not in the national interest to have half the country locked out of crafting legislation and policy. It is our expectation that the ā€œhonorable oppositionā€ will be included in the process of legislating even when in the minority. The same consideration the GOP was given throughout the Obama presidency. (Letā€™s recall that during the 14 months or so the ACA was being negotiated, the GOP was invited to the table, participated and contributed, concessions and compromises were made for them, and STILL not one voted for the ACAā€¦)

Iā€™m becoming infuriated by this new pattern of exclusion. Our dimwit president calls the Democrats ā€œobstructionistā€ (thereā€™s a perfect case of the pot calling the kettle black, eh?), while his party excludes those same Democrats from discussion and negotiation? Health Care, Tax Reform, environmental policy, foreign policyā€¦ nearly half the countryā€™s representation is being blocked out altogether.

I donā€™t know if thereā€™s anything we can do about it, but it feels like the whole thing has gone off the rails. Time for millions to march on Washington, maybe?

This rep is clearly in the wrong party on that score.

After allā€¦ Betsy deVille, er, deVosā€¦ 'nuff said?

OT: DeVosā€¦ sister of Erik Prince, founder of Blackwater (Mercenaries R Us)ā€¦ Erik, by the way, is in stealth support mode of the White Houseā€¦ does anyone realize how deep and dark-hearted this new government of ours isā€¦?

The Constitutional provision that assigns two senators to sparsely populated states like Wyoming, the Dakotas, Alaska, Utah, Montana, Oklahoma, etc. is killing this country. The people who live in these states think of themselves as independent pioneers and so vote against the good of the county as a whole when in fact theyā€™re leeches, living off the blood of the rest of the country.
