Discussion: Republican Governors Support DHS Shutdown Over Immigration

Discussion for article #233523

Pence thinks a hack partisan judge from TEXASS give the repugs cover for shutting down the security of “Murieca”. Good luck with that.

“…opposing … funding the Department of Homeland Security…”

Republicans. Still weak on defense.

Remember 911.

Quitting seems to be the overwhelming motivation of all Republicans these days. They know they can’t hack it so they just give up and go home. They are far happier to take their bribes from the Koch Brothers and let them make all the decisions for them.

Palin has had a far greater impact on the GOP than even Cheney. The multinational Aryan Nation billionaires have found their willing Republican slaves and traitors to the American middle class.

“…A department shutdown would have a limited impact on national security…”

In the game of Republican politics, nation, our safety is expendable.

Who exactly are we comfortable putting at risk while Congress does nothing?

Republican irrational logic only works for the criminally insane. Even the rednecks are scratching their heads these days.

“A department shutdown would have a limited impact on national security. Most workers…would stay on the job in a shutdown.”

Until TSA and CBP agents who have been unpaid for four months start staging a sickout.

From the Republican playbook of no-big-deal unintended consequences:

Let’s get rid of Glass-Steagall and let Wall Street gamble with taxpayer-insured bank deposits. We’ll unleash innovation and unlimited prosperity. No big deal – what could possibly happen?
**Answer: **the Crash of 2008 and the Great Recession.

Let’s ignore warnings from Clinton and his security people, and that silly daily intelligence briefing about bin Laden preparing to strike. Everyone knows all of Clinton’s “concern” about Al Qaeda was just to distract from Monicagate – what could possibly happen?
Answer: The biggest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor, which killed 2,700.

Let’s invade Iraq and show the world we mean business after 9-11. So what if the pointy-headed experts say it would destablize the region, strengthen Iran’s position in the Middle East, and radicalize a new generation of terrorists – what could possibly happen?
Answer: The biggest strategic military blunder in our nation’s history, which has already cost us 4,000 American soldiers, trillions of dollars, increasing Middle East radicalism and instability, and the prestige we once enjoyed in the world.

Let’s refuse to raise the debt ceiling and force Obama to negotiate with us. If we do default, that’ll just force the nation to tighten its belt and make tough long-overdue decisions. What could possibly happen?
**Answer:  **the first downgrading of the US credit rating in history and the imposition of billions in additional debt service payments due to higher interest rates.

Let’s cut a few hundred million from the State Department’s security budget. Make Hillary prioritize limited resources like the rest of the country huddled around the kitchen table scrambling to pay their bills and meet a budget. What could possibly happen?
Answer: the attack on Benghazi that left four Americans dead.

Let’s refuse to fund Homeland Security unless Obama drops his executive order on immigration.  Even if Homeland Security shuts down, all essential functions would still be staffed, and the employees will eventually get paid once Obummer caves. What could possibly happen?
Answer:  With ISIS on the loose and rightwing domestic terrorists recruiting at a record pace, I shudder to think.

To Be Continued …

That was extremely well-done. I hope it gets wide circulation.

Thank you.

“Obama’s unconstitutional power grab”

This heaping pile of horsesh*t talking point has GOT to be the single most disingenuously egregious falsehood ever to be expelled by Frank Lutz’ anal cavity!!!

And the fact that there is not an overwhelming blowback to this by the media or progressives chills me to my soul more than the Repug’s shamelessness in repeating it ad-nausea…

The ‘Big Lie’ still works… God help us all!

Xylon-B…

oh, wait, that’s not given in pill form…
