CNN describes them as “militants”. According to Bush Era doctrine, a “militant” is defined as any male brown-skinned person between the ages of 15 and 60. Children, women, and the elderly are not included in the “militant” body count.
I remember the time when for some on the left (both old and new) it was considered to be something hip and intellectual to beat up their natural allies (being apologists of natural enemies is just a flip side of it). It seems that mindset dies hard.
And it doesn’t help that Trump is threatening ACA’s subsidies causing the Dems to threaten gov shut down…meanwhile NK is threatening their own version of “end of days”. Why is everything on the brink of destruction?
I’m not joking here. I haven’t seen what Taibbi said but do people like him have a Qscore–the individual populariity ratingsthat the broadcast people have? Which STRONGLY affects anchors’ compensation. With the prevailing "soft on terrorism"narrative @rurritable, Taibbi might be making an economic calculation. This might explain it. Maybe additional articles will be up later but among the WaPo columnists I saw today only E. Robinson is critical of the Squirrel Bomb. Zakaria is just awful.
Greenwald & Co. piled on before the election by mocking any contention from the Clinton campaign that Russia was trying to swing the election to Trump. Greenwald especially amplified the effect of Russia’s active measure by demanding the DNC confirm or deny the veracity of the stolen emails.
Then there’s a group of socialist bros with tunnel vision who’re so focused on their own pet issues they miss the fact that kleptocracy and crony capitalism are Russia’s greatest exports.
In all fairness, Goldman-Sachs is controlled by a group of plutocrats and oligarchs who are intent on getting the US government to lift sanctions, i.e. income taxes, that adversely impact their economy.
I hope–hope–it’s because a plea deal for Flynn or Page, who will sing, is getting close. Hope.
Edit: A few knowledgeable folks here have suggested that the ACA payment withholding is illegal. It appears to me that Leader Pelosi and Sen. Schumer have gratefully latched onto theis ammunition–much to the delight of many Democrats. So that’s not a bad thing at all. If you have plenty of Rolaids.
Yes, but the alternative is send in US troops to crawl their way through the tunnels like they did in Vietnam.
Because voters think “all candidates are the same.” Because some special snowflakes wanted to bern things down.
'The revelation follows a claim by Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano that the U.S. asked Great Britain to spy on Trump. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer then cited Napolitano to back up Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that Trump Tower was wiretapped. ’
Doncha’ just LOVE the circle jerk policy of verifying ‘facts’??? No you little ‘fake’ patriots. The Trump ‘Team’ really DID try and collude with Russia.
Yep, I keep forgetting that point. Damn them to hell. And second thought…not everything is on the brink of destruction…Donald continues to play golf!
Perhaps, but after being there longer than in Viet Nam, why are there still so many militants to kill? Are we winning , losing or standing still?
Ugh. What a load of crap that column was. Just terrible. I was happy to see he was getting hit very hard in the comments section when I checked earlier.
Good grief, man. Look at the unstable personality, his ignorance of world affairs, and the ethical and moral lapses of this man! These don’t disappear or deserve to be overlooked when the military drops a few bombs and have questionable results. He is fundamentally unfit to be POTUS. He’s a blot on America.
We have very good and serious reasons to disapprove strongly of him and his administration.
Note updated post
Recruiting is the real reason I believe.
“Then there’s a group of socialist bros with tunnel vision who’re so focused on their own pet issues they miss the fact that kleptocracy and crony capitalism are Russia’s greatest exports.”
This might be the part that gets me most annoyed. Can they possibly be so stupid as to believe that modern day Russia has anything to do with socialism? (Rhetorical question.)
Like I said yesterday in another connection: QScores. Ratings. Maybe I’ll just get program a function key for it,
Qscores.com. I believe they may be able to say something and look at the result the next day.
Perfect.
He was very unpopular after making his statement about Trump now being presidential because he lobbed missiles at Syria and now this column.
Deduct the brownie points from his account.
The lengths that certain types of people will go to in order to appear smart and sophisticated never cease to amaze me.
