Discussion: Reports: Trump To Announce Intent Next Week To Decertify Iran Nuclear Deal

How.

Trump was elected by the stupidest possible people to do the stupidest possible things because, in the manner of the stupid, they think anything they are too stupid to understand is stupid.

Some of us got that and did all we could to keep the candidate of the stupid from becoming president. Some of us decided to be stupid. And now here we are.

Trump doesn’t know squat about the Iran nuke deal nor does he care. If he decertifies the Iran deal Tillerson, Mattis, Kelly, and McMaster should resign. It is the only thing that will get the attention of Congress. Trump is a moron.

W. pulled out of the Clinton agreement we had with North Korea, and soon after they were off to the races with their nuclear program. Same will happen when tRump pulls out of the Iranian agreement. I don’t remember all the technical things that went into both of those original agreements but it took careful diplomacy and time to work out the best framework we could hope for under the circumstances. I hate fucking wingnut impulsiveness. Their hubris one day will be the death of us all.

Plus, tRump’s own people are contradicting him by saying Iran is following through on their side of the agreement. So this decision is based purely on his own level of understanding of the situation, which is minimal, guided by his emotions and nothing more. The man is an incompetent nincompoop.

The US pulling out of this may not get Iran to start up weapons work again, as the accord is an agreement between several nations. What it will do is destroy the trust the world has for the US…I don’t know if that will be permanent or will last until Trump is removed, but right now the world doesn’t believe that we will continue to respect anything that has been done in the past. The big damage will be the years where the rest of the world figures out how to live without the US…we were in a special place and got a lot of advantages through that, but that chapter of international relations is coming to an end. And, that’s actually a bad thing…in spite of the questionable actions that have happened (including undermining a democratic Iran), the US has been a stable buoy in international politics, and the world is a more dangerous place without that.

This is just a stupid move by a petty wannabe dictator, but it, and others, will resonate for years or decades after he’s gone.

I agree. This is insane because there is nothing rational about this decision because it’s not based on anything but Trumpness - Trump being Trump.

Goddamn it!

The only thing that will get Congress’ attention is if they think they won’t get re-elected.

If something else was going to get Congress’ attention, there are about 50 absolutely beyond the pale things that Trump has done that would get any vaguely reputable Congress to act. We have an utterly morally bankrupt Congress in power.

Pray that the Supreme Court rules against gerrymandering to the degree that is occurring.

Can we disown Presidents? I just hope that Iran realizes that it’s basically just Trump being a big douche here and that he does NOT actually represent the vast majority of this country or what we believe in (i.e. not wanting endless war and destruction, nuclear or otherwise)

Pretty much. There are too many warhawks that felt that we should have gone after Iran not long after Iraq. But these are the idiots that don’t understand that a. Iran has a modern military and are experts at irregular warfare and b. they are pretty good friends with Russia, who would probably enjoy backing them up if we’re crazy enough to attack them.

Or, these are Dominionists who feel that it’s time to kick Armageddon into high gear.

Another thought… he could have announced this at any time. Why now?

Is this his way of diverting attention from his mangling of Puerto Rico’s disaster response?
Or is there some Russia investigation hammer about to drop?

Merry Christmas, Israel!?!?!?!?

Edit: Ha…I just realized that’s doing double duty, because this is probably simultaneously a gift to Israel but also the reason Iran will have the bomb by Xmas lol…hopefully Iran doesn’t get in the “giving” mood…

That already happened when Trump made overtures to start a shakedown of NATO nations before we would help them, or made comments that we would see nothing wrong with dismantling NATO.

The rest of the world (outside of those autocratic nations out there) already see the US as a rogue state.

He’s awful, but he’s relatively unimportant. The real horrors are happening in Congress and our increasingly reactionary-owned federal appellate bench.

Donald is keeping us distracted while Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan and the boys wreck the foundations and basic institutions of our democracy, going in for the kill on everything from progressive taxation to sane regulation of lethal industries to the fragile remnants of the safety net to voting rights and the rights of organized labor.

The Republicans are a bloomin’ wrecking crew: they are tearing down the country as we speak, mostly so that vicious and delusional old trust fund brats like Charles Koch won’t have to pay taxes or obey laws. It’s beyond madness-----it verges on being a crime against humanity.

Yes, well, that’s possible, but when there’re other possibilities to consider, for example, idiot, imbecile, cretin, and dolt, it’s hard to make up one’s mind.

I can’t work for him any more he is mentally unstable and is a threat to the peace and security of the nation.
