Discussion: Reports: Trump Selects Rep. Mike Pompeo To Head CIA

Another selection I can see the Senate shooting down.
(A) He’s way too green.
(B) Senior Republicans will want someone who’s reliably anti-Russia for this post.
© Many agents will be royally pissed.

Trump camp now saying Kobach was never on the transition team, he just went on camera and claimed he was while mentioning Muslim immigrant registry. I’ll give it to the President-Elect: he really knows how to throw someone under the bus.

Confirming his anti-establishment credentials, the President-Elect…

McConnell is getting serious indigestion right now. Remember his statement during the campaign about “how the system will serve as a check against Trump”?

Yeah, he probably doesn’t either. But that statement IS going to be put to the test right away. Its not just that Trump is looking to staff up with deplorables…its seriously incompetent, inexperienced people being named.

In the incoming administration, that is his main qualification.

Or like the whacking of Phil Leotardo.

I don’t know. The State of Kniggle has a certain ring to it.

Pompeo, Sessions, Flynn, the Three Stooges of the national security state.

But what’s going through my mind right now is the almost sure certainty that these charlatans will try to go after Hillary Clinton. The stage is set.

And the thing is Ryan and McConnell were all set to forget about that. On the other hand, I’m not worried about HRC…and this farce could delay the gruesome and no doubt botched execution of Medicare.

I think I get it now: the GOP/Teatrolls are trying to reverse the exodus away from Christianity by making even the nonreligious feel like they better start fucking praying.

What a rogue’s gallery. I hope is does get worse. The more extreme and incompetent the better our chances in 2018.

Obama’s legacy will most certainly be targeted for complete reversal and destruction by the GOP. He has little to lose when leaving office should he give them the finger on the way out the door. I understand his efforts at smoothing the transition and staking out the high ground, playing the statesman to Trump’s vulgarian. However, I think a very good case can be made Obama needs to pardon Hillary before leaving office. Republicans are less interested in responsible governance than they are in settling scores. Taking away this chew toy risks inviting negative consequences, possibly inflaming Trump to direct his zeal for revenge elsewhere, Nevertheless it needs done. For all Hillary’s faults and skirting the edge of various laws and norms she does not merit endless years of persecution at the hands of the Trump administration and loons in Congress like Jason Chaffetz. Ford pardoned Nixon, ostensibly to spare the nation the drama and distraction of prosecuting the ex-Prez. The same rationale stands for Clinton.

Indeed…and that finger should be the inter-session appointment of Garland to the SCOTUS.

The same gerrymandered districts that voted Trump into office will vote GOP in 2018. They will because of any descent by the nation into a flaming pile of dog shit. GOP voters are now nihilistic anarchists.

The Apocalypse could arrive and Trump loyalists would welcome it, even if it was proven Trump brought it on. Depending on Trump’s Presidency to be a disaster, and that disaster opening a window for Dems to retake Congress or the White House, is likely wishful thinking.

Republicans have essentially ended the era of Congress being in recess for the very reason you mention. For years now they have kept a member in DC and purposefully declined to declare a recess, stopping the President from legally making recess appointments. SCOTUS essentially sided with Congress in their fight with the Executive Branch regarding the scope of the President’s latitude in making recess appointments, with some minor caveats in the Executive’s favor.

I woke up to a notification on my phone saying Sessions was gonna be AG. Wanted to throw up. Makes me long for days when Christie was top contender for job.
