Discussion: Reports: Trump May Make Offer To Dems For Border Wall Money

Trump’s die-hard faithful don’t run around. I’d say changing tv channels is their basic form of exercise except that they don’t tune in to anything but Fox so they don’t change channels. Of course some of them sit in front of their desktops too. They are the proverbial bloggers in pajamas.

Temporary wall funding for temporary protections?

INCYMI Putin’s Puppet, SCOTUS already took your DACA extortion racket away from you. Bargaining value = $0.

That way, to Trump’s base it won’t matter what he said, it’ll be about what Faux and the noise machine said he said.

But to be fair, all $5.7B of temporary Wall Funding.

Unemployment insurance is state-run anyhow, isn’t it? My understanding had always been that employers have to pay into a state-managed insurance pool. Not sure how the feds could interrupt that in any state…?

Not enough. The suggested concessions are temporary.

This merely adds more hostages to the situation in addition to the government. Democrats should entertain any offers from the administration after the government shutdown has ended.

It is likely that he will offer slight and temporary concessions for his 5.6 (or is it 5.7, or now higher) demands for a permanent wall. As is often the case for an initial offer, it will be utterly inadequate. It is well beyond time for Trump to learn how negotiation actually works.

Nothing more than a PR move as Trump needs to flip the narrative. I expect the Speaker to counter with something like permanent protections; Coulter, Limbaugh, and Miller will go crazy and nothing happens. They don’t want a deal. They want capitulation. And with this bunch, you always have to read the fine print and be ready to go to court.

He’s looking to get out from under his declaration on the teevee that he will take the blame and put on the mantle. A piece that has haunted him ever since. He makes some meaningless promises and insignificant “concessions” sure in the knowledge that cable news will bothsides it. Dana Bash, that Ruhle person, and Chuck Toad will be running after Pelosi: “Why can’t you meet Trump half way?”

It’s the Merde Channel. All bullshit, all the time.

ETA. How can I be so cynical? I work out.

You couldn’t possibly be serious if these three were your advisors. Don’t try to actually talk to the Dems. that have control over this. If you were genuine you’re little stunt would involve Dems.
One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. This is your third live try to make a difference, and we know it will not be anything acceptable.

The simple response is, ‘Thank you for agreeing to participate in the negotiation process. Open up the gov’t for 4 weeks and let’s see if we can hammer out some legislation.’. Get him to lift the shutdown first and then it’ll cost him double to do it again. While in negotiations, go big with comprehensive immigration reform and deride his offer as crumbs. SCOTUS already extended DACA so he’s not offering something that doesn’t already exist. I would give him $5 bn in exchange for full comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship.

No need to discuss wall after all that.
