It’s a town hall. They will be holding mics. Not an opportunity to be wasted.
Who the hell knows - and the only thing for sure is that none of the dirtbags is being guided by ‘ethics’ or ‘principles’
(1.) Pence could have pulled out because he is going to remain loyal to Trump & stepping in to this here could be look like an attempted coup.
(2.) Pence could be staying away because he is busy planning his strategy with the GOP brain trust for when he takes the over the top of the ticket - and how to cut through the rules that may stand in the way.
(3.) Pence may be so nauseated that he will withdraw from the ticket.
… 3 is wildly unlikely - guess it is #1. - hard to imagine #2 - and if Trump refuses to jump off - it becomes a giant toxic dumpster fire beyond all recognition.
(4.) He’s terrified and just wants to hide out hoping this thing will blow over.
Pence seems stupid enough to be hoping to replace Trump. His best bet to retain a future is to quit the ticket.
Pussygate
Pence was still scheduled to attend the event with Ryan until midday Saturday, when reports emerged Pence was scrapping the appearance. The reasons for Pence's cancellation were not immediately clear.
The suspence is unbearable.
It was Trump who told him to go Wisconsin. How does not doing as he was told keep him loyal?
Speaking of which, we have no way of knowing if this was a Pence decision or a Ryan decision.
Interesting. Pence is offering prayers for HO and his family, but bupkus for HO’s victims.
Conspicuously missing from that list is “American”. Delete your Party!
Of course!
It’s the Christianist thing to do.
Some people are saying that Pence will discover his long lost ethical core and quit the race. While many people are saying that this will open up the VP slot to Christie, I have an idea that Trump is pushing for Bill Cosby. Or at least that’s what many/some people are saying.
we’ve been wondering, collectively, about what is the thing that will finally cross the line with Trump? Seems we found it.
Well, yeah – they’re only pussy parts, after all. Right? Right, Mike?
Hopefully Al Haig will come running in screaming “I’m in charge!”.
That was after Reagan was shot, but it will work here, too.
things changed - once the drumbeat became loud & intense for Trump to ‘get out’ - having Pence step in - and in the eyes of many - perform as though he was the candidate - may have taken on a different aroma … over night it may have morphed from “filling in for the candidate” to … stepping up and taking over the position of the candidate…
if Pence went to this event & performed with gusto - the story could have legs of its own - it could get played out like a giant power struggle - It would be fun to watch spin out of control - Republicans would be choosing up sides - back stabbing - and grasping at control - and Trump could try to throw Pence off the ticket if Pence was exposed as actively plotting against Trump. … Trump is wacky enough to refuse to get out - and the GOP has no “solution”
Nice analysis. I’ve been wondering what kind of chaos will ensue if Pence actually grows a pair and drops out himself. About the only person I can think of stupid enough to join the ticket is Guiliani, and he’s way too old. I don’t think Christie would even consider it. Maybe that rabid general of HO’s would suffice.
What does HO mean in connection with Trump? Feeling clueless …
Masterful trolling by President Obama, when the President refused to use his name, only referring to him as “Hillary’s opponent” or “her opponent.”
I think it might be likelier than that—I’ve seen multiple reports that he’s enraged, disgusted, devastated, all sorts of things like that. The calculated part is that if he wants to run four years from now there’s only so much slime he can get on him. And his own base is solidly fundie AFAIK. Assuming Trump loses, they’ll forget he was their champion and blame everyone in his camp for losing, is one scenario. I think Pence is trying to figure all this out right now and he’s kind of famously not a genius.
