Shocking!
Apparently Les Moonves is every bit the jerk every person who has ever worked for him has claimed!

Heās going to get around $120M when he goes unless the board determines he violated company politics. Was supposed to have been $280M and heās ādonatingā $20M to metoo groups.
āIf Moonves were to be fired without cause, he could receive upwards of $170 millionā¦ā
All you really need to know, from a corporate point of view.
It must be Ok if Youāre an Executive.
I hope most of it goes to Lawyers.
He said, Iām pretty sure, that Trump was not good for the country, but that he was good for CBS, increasing viewership and therefore profits.
Whatās a āfeminist manā? You mean a hypocrite whose espouses a pro-female point of view but also gropes?
Youāre right. I had it backasswards. And youāre the only who noticed.
Nc & tindalos:
āā¦: bad leadership drives out good ā¦ā
I want to believe that more people are recognizing this, but if they are the results are virtually impossible to observe or measure. If Iām right, then a secondary benefit of the Me Too movement is to expose bad leadership that, among other things, feeds the culture that permits more of these jerks to attain positions of power that are bad for the organization and for the people employed in them.
The sexual harassment Iāve observed was verbal, and the men who engaged in this behavior were not good leaders by any measure. Men and women both thought them to be jerks.
Itās always struck me as almost laughable when extremely wealthy, retirement-aged executives āresignā, as if itās some huge loss for them. Moonves is obscenely wealthy, has entirely gotten away with decades of sexual harassment and other misconduct and has literally paid no price and suffered no consequence during those decades. Now, heās āresigningā to enjoy a life of leisure, golf, parties, women, excess and luxury. Sounds as if he got exactly what he wanted all these years and will sleep soundly on an enormous pile of cash. Moonves should be charged with crimes, not allowed to ride into the sunset on a runway model.
I felt sick reading Farrowās report. In an ideal world, Moonves should be charged with sexual assault. The time limits on such charges should be removed. But his other ācrimesā of psychologically destroying his victimsā self-confidence, or destroying their career paths - he should be charged for that too.
Look on their resignations from their point of view. They act like itās going to be a big loss to the organizations they are leaving, to the public they used to āserve.ā

[/quote]Moonves comes out of it even worse this way.
Hey, I would have been willing to screw up the company for a mere $150 million. Yeah. Iām that good.
On the one hand I am glad people like Moonves are being discovered and forced out. On the other hand, Ronan Farrow is beginning to feel like a modern day cross between Tomas de Torquemada and Walter Winchell.
Ummmm, no. Heās finally exposing what we women have known and suffered forever. It might feel like the Inquisition to you, but it feels like justice to me. Imperfect justice, but justice nonetheless.
āOnly memberās members here you ruffian! be off directly.ā

Rose ruled on PBS for a long time with the round table discussion he hosted, and his guests were always interesting. Heās being replaced with Amanpour and Iād watch her. Iām glad they had to sense to replace him with this particular woman.
Amanpour has been doing a half-hour show which has been broadcast on our PBS station, but I think originated elsewhere. (BBC?) This expanded version should be very goodāshe might be the best interviewer this side of Terry Gross.
I find a news program right before bedtime agitating, though-donāt know if I can risk the irregular sleep.
