Discussion for article #246427
Lame, if true.
So again, heās taking up the compromise road, but as usualā¦
The Troll is strong in this one. Troll la la la laā¦
I tend to believe the WH is floating Sandoval as a trial balloon and I believe theyāre probably pretending to very him. I also think thereās a very good reason Sandoval didnāt run for Senate, and whatever the reason may be itās also the reason the WH will use to rescind the nomination.
āA moderate Republicanā.
Ah, that elusive cryptid.
Like Mothman or the Chupacabra.
Lots of claimed sightings, but never any real evidence to support their existence.
This feels like a trial balloon to make Senate Republicans look like assholes that they wouldnāt even confirm a popular Republican Governor to the Supreme Court. Obama knows by now McConnell wonāt let him get anything done so this feels like a middle finger to him if he does nominate Sandoval.
I donāt think theyāll have to rescind it. I donāt think heās the one. You float names publicly while you talk to the real candidate. It doesnāt make any strategic sense to actually nominate him, but it makes Obama look like he ālookedā at Republicans too.
Trolling, shows how even handed POTUS is being. Sandoval will politely decline the circus.
Hm I wonder if nominating a Republican would convince the GOP to stop its scorched earth tactics. Letās ask Chuck Hagel.
There is no doubt in my mind - Obama if he does this will do it to prove the GOPers just want to obstruct. And let us not over react to this. The fact that he has floated it could be a trial balloon and not very serious The media is pushing this narrative and no one of them know whatās in Obamaās mind
I donāt think this is trolling. I think it is Harry Reid looking for a way to keep Sandoval from running for US Senate in 2016.
Cut the crap okay. Please. Obama has shown to be far smarter than any of the republicans. Obama was elected to govern. Governing requires compromise. I am so sick of that fucking old meme from some progressives.
So you give him a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court? Very unlikely.
Oh god, I hope Obama doesnāt get down to this ridiculous level.
Yep ā¦ and the GOTP took the bait big time:
So far, it does not seem to be a game changing strategy. When asked about a Sandoval nomination, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) said Republicans would still hold firm no matter who the nominee was.
Multi-dimensional chess at work!
I doubt that seriously
Pre-compromise. Itās the Obama/Reid way!
Exactly.Sandoval is Hispanic, Republican and (what used to pass for) moderate. This makes the Rethugs look even more assholish (IF that were possible) than before. Please proceed Rethugs to burn every single bridge you possibly can.
OMG. Please Obama knows what heās doing. First of all, this is a media narrative. The President has not given anyone but his closest advisors any inkling of who he is going to pick. I love the over reaction to everything here. This is a media driven narrative and we know TPM loves the click bait
