Discussion: Report: Trump Team Targeting NEA, NEH And CPB In Budget

I hate to tell you, Max, but Cookie Monster and Oscar and the rest of the gang work for HBO now.

So long NPR. I know they were more right leaning, but you did get some unfiltered news once in awhile. Republicans want to make sure that their supporters stay ignorant and watch more of the brain cell killing Fox News.

I used to be an NPR junkie. Raised my kid on NPR in the car. I immediately noticed their shift in journalistic integrity coincided with their new corporate sponsor, Koch Industries. I’m sure I’m wrong and it was just a coincidence.

I realize I’m only exacerbating the problem but I called my local station and cancelled my $25/month donation and made sure to tell them why.

Glad they moved before Drumpf had them evicted…

Those three programs are important but tiny. The Big money cuts are elsewhere.

from the 14 Characteristics of Fascism:

  1. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

True dat.

Wait until NSF and NIH go on the block, although that still isn’t really big bucks. Sonny Perdue will probably put SNAP (foodstamps) on the block. When that happens, we’ll talking 'bout money.

I don’t think they were ever meant to be cost-saving cuts.

no Pissident PeePee voter ever listened to NPR - too elitist and high-brow. Just like education. And good hygiene. And proper dental care…

Conservatives have never liked these programs, so of course getting rid of them now when they have an opportunity to do so was inevitable. What’s SAD! ā„¢ is that here’s a man desperate for the love of entertainers trying to kill support for entertainers. His logic really escapes me here. Maybe it’s revenge for everyone bailing on his inauguration?

Good for you. I stopped donating during the Bush Jr administration, and stopped listening altogether after this election. The only NPR I’ll now listen to is the occasional music show or Car Talk reruns.

Despite the efforts of Fux ā€˜n’ Friends et al to persuade their viewers otherwise, the majority of SNAP recipients are white, most either families with children or the elderly.

But I hope they do go after SNAP and then those TrueRed bootstrappin’ farmers can really feel the pain. Killing SNAP will destroy farmers faster than they can cry ā€œsubsidiesā€!

Make America bland again!

How come I have a feeling there’s a not so subtle jab at SNL and Alec Baldwin in there?

Caitlin–You left Commerce and the Department of Energy also in line for big cuts if the Heritage losers hold sway. The whole thing leaves me sick to my stomach.

They’re eliminating the cost of having a well-rounded, educated electorate.
