This is-- or is very near to Rep Steve Stockman’s (R-Lunatic) district.
While many superficially equate Texas-- to redneck?

Houston is a far more cosmopolitan place than the more rural outlying areas.
This area while in Houston proper-- is on the side of town where the genesis of the movie Urban Cowboy came into being.

Pasadena, City of South Houston, Friendswood, Deer Park, Galena Park-- all and forever a deeply blue-collar and industrial/refinery base and locale.

Been a rarity in my nearly 4 decades in Houston-- for there to be heightened racial or religious tensions that erupt into actions such as this. Nothing on ‘local radar’ gives any indications either.

I’m thrilled that the United States is a plural society that accepts a wide range of views on everything. WooHoo. USA! USA! USA!

Just another “parking dispute” - remember Chief Justice Roberts ruled a few years ago that racism no longer exists in America anymore.

Muslin is a race?

Damn anti-theists won’t stop until the entire country burns – in hell!

I know I have a potty mouth but I hate these m’fers. I am beyond disgusted with the racism and intolerance in this country and especially places like Texas and other southern states. I know it happens other than the south, but nothing like this

I never spent any time in Texas but for a visit to Dallas in the late 60s and I can tell you that I immediately knew I could NEVER live in Texas.

With all due respect chammy-- Dallas is nothing like Houston.
It’s a Plasticine city known for bigboobs, bighair, and Beamers.

I could never live in Dallas either.
But I could prove to you Houston is a place worth living-- be it in Texas or not.

There’s a possibility that this wasn’t a result of arson. But right wing media has been busy feeding paranoia, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was arson.

Metro Houston might not have shown signs of heightening paranoia, but it’s possible that this center had somehow drawn attention from nearby areas like League City, Baytown, LaPorte, etc.

I feel sorry for Muslim people who have to deal with constant anxiety over incidents like this.

yet to admit the cause of the fire.

Muslin is a fabric. Muslims are of the Islamic faith. Racism comes into play probably because many Muslims have darker skin than the “right” (Caucasian) people.

I was a guest worker for Uncle Sam At Ft Hood in the early 70’s (drafted). I feel the same as you.

You know who did it? Santa.

Arson investigators? I’m sure it was just an accident or perhaps caused by faulty wiring. They’re pretty much “live and let live” in Texas; I can’t imagine that anyone in the Lone Star State would do such a thing.

Now if people had been shot, that would be a different story…

I lived in Houston for 22 years and I can’t say that I share your opinion. There are many reasons I’m glad not to live there anymore, and cockroaches and humidity are but two of the more modest ones.

Exactly. The odds are strong that on any given day some Islamic property or Muslim in the U.S. is burning, particularly so in the south. Why pick on Texas? This could just as easily have happened in Oregon, Michigan, northern Florida or Arkansas.

It’s like the fortune cookie said: May you live in historically stoopid, pointlessly cruel, insensibly moronic times
