I know, right? I mean, I’ve heard of “Failure to Launch”, but still…
Isn’t Bob McDonnell living in a rectory with a priest?
Didn’t Miss Lindsay live with mom?
She no more lives with her parents than Mitt Romney lived in the basement of his son’s house. I’m really in favor of establishing legitimate residency requirements - it might have spared us having Dick “Dick” Cheney running the government for six-and-a-half years.
Yes. Yes they are. Oh, and it never kicks in for conservatives of course.
This has been another installment of obvious answers to simple questions.
Thanks for playing!
Well, they just can’t be Senators, according to the conservative hive mind.
Hardly f*cked I’d say…
I hope she doesn’t take anything for granted.
psssst she’s a gol dang wymen too!
I love how Republican always have to make their false comparisons. It’s like, “Well, sure we murdered a few people, but see that guy over there? He crossed the street against the light once but the liberal media doesn’t even bring that up!”
Yeah, keep fucking that chicken, Republicans (not that you need encouragement to make fools of yourselves).
Honestly, I did not like this issue when it was used against Pat Roberts, and I don’t like it now. In the scheme of things U.S. Senators do not get paid a lot of money— most of them, especially after a term or two, could make a lot more money in the private sector— and they have to live in two places. The younger ones have families to raise and kids to put through college. I know nothing about Landrieu’s finances but this tells me she has not gotten rich in the job, something a senator from an oil rich state— one with a rich history of political corruption— must have a hard time resisting. Rick Santorum’s maintaining an apartment in Johnstown while having a big house for his family in Virginia was probably the only thing I did not begrudge him when he was my senator— of all his faults, he did not have to take money from venal people to be on their side.
Where was the GOP ire when Dick Cheney rushed to change his residency from Texas to Wyoming just so he could be (Vice) President of the United States?
Let me think on this as a voter in Louisiana:
First, it makes economic sense to not have to be pulling off two full separate residences while doing a job she was elected to do. This person seems to be thinking about how to do her job in an economical fashion, as opposed to the Republican Senator from the same state, who feels that maintaining two homes and flying his family back and forth between same is a responsible use of funds;
Second, from a family standpoint, it makes sense. Ms. Landrieu’s parents are reaching an age where having someone from the family in the home makes a connection between generations and provides for support of parents who may require help physically, especially if they should fall. No, she is not there full time, but others of her family may be. It also allows her parents to maintain financial independence without being a burden. She would also gain the stability of family taking care of children, if so needed, and giving generational influence to her children as they grew;
A third point is this is the way families in Louisiana have been doing this kind of work for centuries. It made sense and makes sense for someone who is not in the back pocket of the Koch brothers.
She has some questions to answer from the progressive side of party, but she is a stand up lady for the constituents of Louisiana, and the Republicans are going to do all they can to knock her down. Besides, being seen as close to her dad, Moon, is an advantage, because he did a good job for the people of the state. So bring this fight on, you’re gonna lose this one.
“A U.S. senator shouldn’t be living with their parents,”
oh those crazy GOTP Republicans and their definitions of FREEDUMB! People cant live with their parents now? Their desperation is always so entertaining.
