Discussion: Report: NY Prosecutors Have A Criminal Case Ready If Trump Pardons Manafort

From “Bo” to “Take a Bite Outta Crime”

Manafort will get a pardon if and only if Trump stands to profit bigly. It’s just how Trump sees the world, no freebies.

Up next on the trumpp scandal roster is the very sleazy one concerning his Labor Secretary Acosta who while he was a prosecutor gave a slap on the wrist to a serial child molester Jeffrey Epstein, and what a surprise. Epstein and Fatso are buds.

There are some photos out there of trumpp and his ties. I like this one.

No chance he gets out of the country. Plus a pardon takes time, it has to be reviewed, processed, etc.

I think that the people fool themselves. My analogy is something like the Nigerian scams: the mark wants money and power and whatever else, so they convince themselves that their part of the deal is real. (That is, that they’re part of the group running the con instead of part of the group of marks.) A con like that also takes advantage of the fact that the mark has already invested a bunch by stepping over ethical/legal lines, so they’re likely to continue chasing the payoff rather than take an embarrassing loss. And the last part: you can kid a kidder. Somebody who thinks they’re such a good grifter that they can’t be taken in is a fine mark, because their sense of self depends on them not listening to any warning signs.

Yep - this is the case I want reopened. For any number of reasons.

Have we impeached the motherfucker yet?

I’d be willing to bet on this one, in the case of a pardon… The only way Trump’s gonna pardon him is if he knows that it can’t come back to bite him. And since Manafort could be compelled to testify about anything he was pardoned for, the only way to do that is to get him out of the country.

There’s nothing (other than norms, and we know how the President feels about those) which require any special processing or length of time to implement a pardon. Could see it drop late on a Friday evening and have the guy wheels-up and in international airspace before Saturday morning news hits.

That one would be a massive one, if they’re successful in reopening. Only question appears to be just how many people would be seeking quick flights to Russia the moment the news broke.

Typically a person applies for one, and there is a waiting period. But the President can also just grant one, like for Joe Arpaio. But even in that case…

One of Arpaio’s attorneys, Jack Wilenchik, said in a telephone interview Saturday that next week Arpaio’s attorneys will file a motion to vacate his conviction and to dismiss the case with prejudice, “meaning forever.” ”This is the end,” he said. Wilenchik said of the pardon the “president has done the right thing here.”

I do believe his passport has been taken from him. If you are suggesting someone will assist him in leaving the country illegally, that would be a very serious crime, and Trump would be implicated in it. Additionally, a pardon at this time would be a disaster for Trump and probably lead to immediate impeachment, and also would be a HUGE part of an Obstruction of Justice case.

I appreciate your concern for sure, but I really don’t see it happening.

Or they just drive him to the Russian embassy. Messy, could lead to another London situation, but would keep him safely out of the hands of prosecutors. Or the Russians pick him up and do the spiriting out. Criminal, of course, but that’s not bothered them in the past.

Interesting. But politically Manafort in the Russian embassy would be a disaster for Trump. Far more likely would be Manafort suddenly taken deathly ill after a Moscow Mule…

I think it’s highly unlikely Trump will pardon him, but if he does, he’ll have had his people work out just how to ensure the guy never testifies.

That’s certainly one way to do it.

Problem:

How to get GOP Senators to take their Oath of Office seriously?

The only thing making that happen is LEO (in all its forms)…

I think such talk is silly, but if we are going to talk silly, wouldn’t it just be simpler to have him die of a heart attack in jail? Yes. Amazing how conspiracy theories usually make things more complex. Like faking the moon landing would have been HARDER than just landing on the moon. Or 9/11 nuts who think WTC was a controlled demo. Aside from the fact such a thing is impossible, even if it could be done it would involved thousands in a cover up. Would have been easier to just crash a few more planes into WTC.

So no, I don’t see a “Manafort pardoned, then killed to silence him” scenario. Right now what I see the potential DA’s charges doing is making Trump very worried.
